Congratulations! Really lovely news for you :). Although it's lovely here I really miss living in Brighton, especially in the summer. Am secretly hoping I can convince husband to retire there eventually :D.

    Hi everyone,

Quick bank holiday update from me:
    - Mortgage will be below £165k when the monthly payment goes out tomorrow. This month we've not overpaid all that much, did our regular August overpayment in July already (because our new fix started this month) and are also doing work to our kitchen which is eating a fair little bit of money. Either way, still better than nothing!
    - Kitchen project: We've done step 1, removing the splash back tiles. Yay! Got a fancy new sink (one especially for small kitchens with limited worktop space, so perfect for us), and will order new worktops some time this week. Oh, and the new tiles are sitting in the hallway already as well. Looks like this is going to take us weeks and weeks, but that's ok, I'm sure it'll be worth it. We're tiling ourselves, and trying to fix the worktop ourselves (although will get it pre-cut, so fingers crossed everything fits. Gotta take some measurements today ideally!).
    - Weekend: Had a lovely weekend. Met a friend for lunch on Saturday, and then went to another friends karaoke birthday party. Lunch friend is moving to LA next month, so it looks like a California trip is on the cards for us next year! Exciting times.
    - Etsy shop: July was my best month so far, but August has already overtaken it. Really exciting stuff, although I'm starting to need to keep a fair chunk of tax money aside - but YNAB makes that reasonably easy.
    - House daydreaming: I'm really enjoying trawling Rightmove at the moment, and have started a few Pinterest boards just for fun for when we hopefully get to buy a house in around 5 years time. It sounds a bit wild, and part of me feels a little bit guilty about it (to the flat mainly - it's not like I don't love you, flat, this is just exciting stuff!). It's not motivated by being greedy, or being unhappy with our current living situation though. It's simply that I thrive on 'looking forward' to something, even if it is to something years and years into the future.

Either way, I hope you're all enjoying the lovely weather! :heart2:

Smallest update ever: Just managed to make another overpayment, which means we are now officially 4 years ahead (in terms of remaining balance compared to if we'd never made any overpayments)! :j
