Auction winner says phone is cracked!

I think you should try phoning paypal. I've had a few cases where I've been messed around by a buyer and a seller and I believe I would have lost the case (despite being scammed!) if I had not spoken to them in person. They will probably ask for a Police crime reference number as well as some proof that the item was in good cond when sent, I suppose the picture of the phone in your auction would do!
It may take you 3 hours to speak so anybody from paypal but I have found them to be helpful (as difficult as it is to believe) in the past!0 -
Paypal will return the money to the buyer, once he has confirmed delivery details. Gutted. Feel a bit let down and disappointed by Paypal and ebay really. Especially once my 100% feedback gets knocked down. Ill just sell the broken handset and hope he gets coal for xmas.0

It's @r$eholes like this that spoil the ebay experience for many people.
..Good ol' paypants too BOOOO!!
Like you say, you can sell the broken phone on again, to re-coup some of your money. That's what I would do in a situation like yours.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
Do you still have the original box that the phone came in as the IMEI number will be on that. And if you were on contract you can call your service provider and they can tell you what the IMEI number was! If it looks like a scam then it probably is, if you can somehow find out what the original IMEI number was and it doesn't match the one that you've been returned then could you have the buyer done for fraud?
**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

That has already been covered in the previous threads and its the same IMEI no throughout as the phone. So looks like the buyer damaged it somehow and then returned it for a refund.0 -

Sorry about that, I thought I was being helpful and then after I posted I realised that there were about 6 more pages of the thread that I had neglected to read through. I was hoping no-one would notice... *hides head under desk*

Its such a shame there is so much buyer fraud nowadays on ebay.
Buyers claiming 'item not recieved' after they recieve their item.
Buyers doing chargebacks.
Buyers swapping parts around and returning different items.
Paypal are a law onto themselves and have far too much power when it comes to mediating and making decisions. They really do need to be governed properly as they are getting out of hand.0 -
What would happen if the original seller said the IMEI number did not match the phone she originally sold? I know it IS the same, but what would happen if it wasnt? Would she have to prove this by paypal, what if the number she sent was 123456789 and the one received back was 987654321 and that it has taken this long to verify as the screen was u/s. Not condoning any action on this part but just throwing this in as an aside.0

It would be ironic if this little s*it bid on your damaged phone on e-bay, so if I were you I'd block him from bidding!
Sorry to hear about your ordeal, but as usual it's the good honest person that loses out.0
