I'm a "work wife". Have been so to my last four bosses, as I'm a PA. I have to understand their lives inside out so that I can make everything work. I get phone calls and texts throughout the night, and at weekends too, if the sh*t's hit the fan in one way or another for them. I wouldn't have it any other way because leaving it until 0800am on Monday is too late if their day starts at 0600am.
My colleagues are seen in the same vein; no one has an issue with it as there's absolutely nothing sexual involved. If there were, then working life would be impossible as the dynamic would change.
I am absolutely open about it with my DH. Today (Sunday) I've been notified of an imminent bereavement so I'm on standby to rearrange everything at very short notice. DH knows, and sympathises with my boss. That's a single example.
Your issue should not be with the term. You need to understand what's happening in/happened to your relationship to make you doubt him.LBM July 2006. Debt free 01 Sept 12 .. :T

My hubby has a work wife, someone he works with closely but there is absolutely nothing untoward going on between them, I know her really well and its just a term he uses because he works with her closely, I don't find it offensive or disrespectful at all, we've been married for 21 years now and are utterly devoted to each other.
I agree that it's not about the term used and more about what's behind it, but no, it doesn't bother me at all that he has a work wifeAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
Except in certain places where polygamy is OK, a man can either
a) have a wife
b) not have a wife
So I think the English translation of the American "work wife" should be "he works with a woman"
Which is common but may trigger jealousy in varying degrees depending on the couple involved. And if it does, then talk to him about it. Because you're his wife, and she isn't. And so all is good.0
