i've never actually heard anyone say 'bubs', have heard 'babby' though and that's no easier than saying baby, it doesn't save any time
i'm common as muck too rushnowt, i like the word 'gob', it's fab :-)52% tight0 -
A lot of people from the Midlands use the word bab. I love all the different sayings personally-me ducks, lovey, sweetheart etc.All credit cards paid off.

i'm from the midlands but we don't call people 'duck' in my town. some of my workmates say 'flower' or 'petal' though. a uni lecturer went up the wall once at a geordie workman calling her 'pet' but i thought it was just another 'duck' type of saying, she thought he was being patronising and had a feminist rant at him.52% tight0

Don't get me wrong, I'm not that layed back i'm horizontal LOL, loads of stuff gets my back up occassionally. I think having a vent or a rant about stuff to get it off ya chest is a good thing. There's nowt worse than keeping stuff in and letting it boil.
But I do think that letting it take over ya life and dwelling on stuff is a totally different thing. I just personally don't see the point in letting the small things in life get me down, there's times I log on here and whilst reading the boards, see that someone as had a real go or been downright rude to another poster, and that makes me angry. But I say my piece and let it go.
I see people's mannerism's and terminology as little quirks that everyone has, and I really wouldn't want everyone to be the same, it's what makes us all so different and special I feel.
Whilst shopping in Bolton recently my daughter wanted a chip muffin, so we called into a chipshop to get her one, I chuckled so much when we left at the fact that they call them flower cakes. LOL
If my little 'un is upet about something, I've often said "what's up babs" I've never really given it any thought that anyone would disapproveNobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission
Love doesn't make the world go round, it's what makes the ride worthwhile

That's cos a muffin's a cake and a flour cake's a lump of bread that tastes good with chips
We're so near yet so far eh rush?Just run, run and keep on running!0 -

Eeh , that takes me back. My Dad used to call bread rolls cobs. He was from the Midlands too and I use to love visiting my aunties there and being called 'me duck'Same old same old since 20080 -
When holidaying in North Yorkshire, we went to the fish and chip shop.
We ordered, cod and chips 8 times, but could only get 'addock.
I asked if they had any wallies. It seemed the only wally int he shop was me..... mind you, I could've had gravy if I'd wanted. Aaagh:eek:
It's a story that I love, cos I thought we all spoke the same language, but the regional variations and tastes show how different we all are in our own little ways.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

What's are wallies?
Gravy on chips? yuk  My Mum was from Belgium and they have mayonnaise on their chips which i've always thought was pretty weird :rolleyes:Same old same old since 20080 -
I'm originally from Bolton and we always had chip barms or flourcakes, Radcliffe has chip muffins. Now try asking for either of those in Fishguard and they look at you funny. Think they have breadcakes.0
