I Hate the term KIDS !!

why do so many people now refer to small children as KIDS it really infuriates me. :mad:
I have 4 adorable CHILDREN.
I hate the phrases like 'KIDS' go free, give the 'KIDS' this or that (on anything from cereal packets to magazines) it is an overused term and it devalues what people think of CHILDREN. I am sure it was always used in an undermining way.
Young people are CHILDREN!!! NOT KIDS!!!!!

In law, I guess child (or children) has a legal definition, whereas 'kid' or 'kids' does not! According to a dictionary definition 'kids' included children and young people. So, if you are a 'young person' who has 'kids', perhaps you can still be a 'kid' and go free too!

Alternatively, why not get a young goat as a pet and see where you can get into for free with your goat? And if you are really into money-saving get the goat to keep the lawn cut and make good use of the milk!

And, remember, some 'kids' are teacher's 'pets' anyway - they are kept in cages at the back of the classroom!

I used to dislike it, but gave up once it seemed to become widely accepted.

But I really, really HATE the word "babby" or "the bab" for a baby .... gggrrrr :mad:

Babby is a good old fashioned northern word. I grew up hearing it so it doesn't bother me. I agree with the word kids though, I hate it.

I hate the word kids too, but it seems to be the norm to use it now. I can't stand babby either and I've lived in the North East all my life!

The one that really drives me mad is Santie for Santa, but thankfully I only hear it in December!

What I don't understand is why a person who does not like the term 'kids' calls herself 'bad mum' - is that what the 'children' call you? If, so what do you think of it?

BTW, someone that lives near me has the car registration: H8 MUM. If you like, I will have a word with her and see if she would like to sell it to you!

I don't mind the term but hate 'bubba' or 'bub'. I see it all the time online, mostly in chavvy forums such as bounty. Fortunatly nobody I Know says it but a friend does say 'bairn' and I cant stand that either.
