I do use 'wifey' sometimes but more often then not she gets one of the following

    - She Who Must Be Obeyed (SWMBO)
    - Mrs Robinson (I can't believe I am married to someone so old)
    - My little Prairie Flower
    - The great nameless one
    - The omnipresent one
    - Her royal snootiness
    - The fruit of my father-in-laws loins

... and various others I can not think off at the minute

Well Ivan , all those terms are a lot nicer than the ones I get called by my 'hubby' :p

Most of them are too rude to post on here , but one which I can say is 'tubby get' icon8.gif

    I call my husband, 'husband'.

He tends to refer to me as 'old bird'.:naughty: Though 'big bird' might be more appropriate'!

He's a cheeky so and so though, as he's 10 years older than me;) . Actually, I'm a bit of a catch.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

i've started using 'hubby' since using this forum, i only say it online though, not out loud. you couldn't just say 'husband', it would have to be 'my husband' and i'm just too lazy to type all that :D

amusing to hear the bounty forums being referred to as chavvy, i've been reading the one for babies due the same month as mine. everyone there is lovely, although the term 'bubs' does drive me mad. what makes it chavvy especially? i don't know many real-life chavs, how can you spot them online? is there an online equivalent of a huge gold jewelled ragdoll necklace?

i can't remember what i was talking about yesterday but i said 'when i was a kid' and my son informed me that was never a baby goat :o

  • Though guilty of occasionally using the term 'kids' myself, it really makes me mad to hear BBC News reporters using it in bulletins. Increasingly the language they use seems designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator, particularly of course, Radio 1.

Jelly - I think its a chavvy forum because of the number of smoking mums and the high number of generaly ignorant and uneducated posters.

What group are you in? Im in the October one although don't post anymore or even visit that often anymore due to the fact that smoking really, really annoys me and I can't tolerate reading about people drinking and smoking while pg. I hardly ever see that on american forums so usually stick to those when pregnant.

i post in 'due in july' - not every day admittedly. i haven't noticed anybody talking about smoking and drinking, some have said they find it hard to give up, nobody says they've carried on doing it. i suppose some of the baby name discussions are chavvy and there are a lot of posts about the surestart money, which i am not entitled to so i don't read them. i've met a woman through the 'due in july' forum who is in my school playground, so that's nice. she's not a chav. perhaps it's just one of those things, that the july forum has nicer members than the october forum lol! maybe we all got pregnant during pagan orgies at hallowe'en and are all the same kind of people :D one thread did get nasty, about deciding not to breastfeed. i've spoken to a lot of older mums on there, i don't feel quite so ancient at 33 now - most pregnancies in my town are teenage girls, their mums are my age lol! i do seem to be the only person not referring toi the baby as 'bubs' though :D

Jellyhead, though not pregnant, just thought I'd put a quick note about breast feeding.

There appears to be little support in this country for breast feeding mothers. If all's well, super, if you need help or advice, it appears to be non existent.

Ther are breast feeding counsellors, but by the time they get it together you'll have either gotten it sorted or given up.

Breast is best. But often the refrain for struggling mum's is, 2 if it's not giving youpleasure... is it worth it?"

To all potential feeders out there... it is worth perservering, but it can be agonisingly tough for 2-4 weeks. Less if you're a hardy type:D .

But once you've got it established, and you're not suffering from sore nipples, you will be able to produce milk at the right temperature, any time night or day, you won't have to get out of bed, you won't have to sterilise, make bottles for the day, carry them around with you etc. etc., and you'll never feel closer to your baby.

Good luck to you and all other pregnant mum's, have good labour, and a wonderful time with your new baby.
