I pot roasted an organic chicken yesterday as I had a free box of vegetables from AnC and used the money I would have spent on a chicken instead. This chicken was expensive but I would argue also good value. Today I stripped the chicken and froze the carcass in one bag and the bones and neck in another. The liver has been saved and frozen. Leek and potato soup has been made today from the jelly that came out of the pot roast. There is enough chicken for at least 3 more dishes and some great tasting nutritious soup will happen from the stock too.

AnC gave me a gift box I was not expecting of Cornish salt, raw cider vinegar and peppercorns. The chicken came with a free lemon.

I order one grocery item a fortnight along with the box. The grocery item is price matched with the stoopidmarket. I spend an average of £20 a fortnight. So,£10 a week. I think this is very good value, good for my health and keeps me out of the shops. The only downside is sometimes one of the veggies is not fresh. If this happens they always credit the whole cost of the item back to my account. :)

I had a call from the plumber who wants to come next Wednesday so I have to go and buy tap. I hope fitting the tap and the stopcock won’t be too expensive. There is nothing in the house fund after the windows but there isn’t council tax this month so I am hoping if I cut back and have lots of NSD this should be possible to get done.

I am going for a walk in a bit. I’ll also renew my library book

Wishing you all a lovely Saturday

BSD did not go well. The thing is I see the word diet in there and just don’t like it…

I forgot that last time I did the BSD I did not actually do the BSD. (It was very close to the third phase of the BSD.)

I did my own plan that was basically to go cut out simple sugars including alcohol for a month and then review. I think this was better for me as I do not get on with counting calories ever.

But then it was the run up to Christmas after the month was up and I lost my way with all the social stuff and the new way of eating did not have time to embed. ANYWAY DOING IT MY WAY AGAIN. I threw away any remaining chocolate and jars of pickles with a sugar content above 10 to 100grams.

I had an orange and a few nuts with a cup of coffee. Still something sweet but not a simple sugar. I used to have this ages ago and really enjoy it as much as some chocolate.:)

My goals remain the same, to lower both my weight and blood sugar...

It is freezing but sunny here so I am going out. I need flip-flops which may seem funny in January but I want to do a morning fitness session and use the shower after so I need flip-flops!

I need a folder to file my papers after my last system gave up on me after 7 years…

It will be nice to walk around in the sunshine :)

    Happy Sunday

  • I like cold oranges from the fridge, a simple treat. I think it helps if you make it an event so that it feels like a treat. Segmented on a nice plate, rather than eaten on the hoof.

Hope you find some flip flops!

Thanks Redo. I agree about cold oranges but my house is so cold I can just take it from the fruit bowl :o

    Not much to report today.

I woke feeling, ‘off’ today, so I gave myself a break. I did not want to push myself.

I had a bath and washed my hair and applied a small amount of make-up and perfume to make myself feel better :)

I walked to the library to return a book. I topped up my phone and had a coffee out.

I bought a book I wanted. A new hardback retailing at £16.99 and I saw it in a CS window for £1! A nice clean copy too. Very pleased.:D

I made soup. I love soup, making it and eating it.

I’ve a new fave snack…a crisp apple cut into thick slices and spread with almond butter. It seems to quash my desire for a simple sugar like chocolate.;)

A stir fry tonight with lots of lovely purple sprouting broccoli.

I hope you had a good start to the week :)

    Yum, your snack sounds delicious!

Glad you gave yourself a break - hope you've woken up with a renewed sense of vigour and motivation! I'm trying to convince myself that's how i feel this morning... when in fact, i feel yawn-y.

Thanks Homegrown, I have woken up ready to get down to work :)

Today I formally resigned from a volunteer role that I have done for the last 15 years. I now have no voluntary work remaining. I don’t feel sad. I feel I am making way for new things and decluttering my life. It is a great organisation and will continue to go from strength to strength without me. :)

I spoke to the window company as they are looking for a solution to an older window with a fault. I am pleased they take customer satisfaction seriously.

I am decluttering toiletries. I have many (mostly gifts, so new and unopened) toiletries that I was happy to receive, but won’t use as they are not to my taste. I would like to donate them to a domestic violence shelter as they are nice presents and it would be nice to think of troubled people having a nice treat.

I have lots of good stock and veggies so I am making yet another batch of soup! :money:

I will be decluttering a bag of things including a mini BBQ that has taken up space for years! :T I will also take a walk as I need a few essentials for the home. So, not a NSD today.

There is nothing on TV this evening that I care to watch so I am having a big-screen-free day today.

Going for an 8 hour working day but dividing into a daytime and an evening session with a long break in-between. ;)

Wishing you all a productive (if productivity is your thing) day. However you spend the day find something to be happy about :)

Back to check diaries this evening :

That's good to know. I have approx 30 individually wrapped tampax that I bought but didn't get on with so they've been sitting there doing nothing. I wanted to donate them but wasn't sure where and totally forgot. I'll drop them at my local food bank the next time i'm passing. Thanks!
