  • Well done on your 2018 achievements DIA. A very Happy New Year to you and I hope it brings you joy.

  • I know that I had dh’s fixed salary but this tends to cover things like our mortgage, car lease, rates, tv licence etc. I pay myself £700 per month plus allowable expenses from my business account. I find it easier to contain spends if there is less in the account. I’d say give the £1000 a month a go.

Thanks beanie, 24a , Tink, Fortune, and INOD
Happy New Year 2019 to you all :)

INOD, I agree £1,000 a month until April is worth a try. I've been playing with figures and it all looks very doable as long as the MOT doesn't through up any nightmares :)

A day sorting, throwing out things I don't need, a wash load done and out sort-of drying, and gathering clothes I don't want to wear in 2019 for the charity bag.

In my diary in 2016 I said my dreams were a small car, a dog and a trip to New York. :)
I now have the small car:)

So, NY may have to wait until more is done on the house, but I decided to bite the bullet and register with Battersea for the dog. I passed the registration and I have been invited in for an interview in 2 weeks time. :T I've said I wouldn't be ready for a dog for 3 months so we shall see :)

I have also taken my 1960s vintage typewriter out from under the stairs. I'm planning on getting a new ribbon and I will use it, probably for personal letters and cards. it has such a lovely font and confirms I am a total luddite as I love the physicality of it but have I got my external drive yet? Nope. Still putting it off.

I hope you are making the most of your spanking new 1st day of the year :)

I felt all warm and fuzzy inside reading about your typewriter! I'm sure I've shared my typewriter story with you before (Not an interesting story but I asked and got a typewriter for Christmas when I was about 8 and it was my pride and joy) so I can imagine how much joy it'll bring you to use.

So excited about the prospect of a dog on your behalf - I'd love one, but just not practical with our lives right now. I hope all goes swimmingly in your interview.

Thanks HH. I've wanted a dog for so long. The timing isn't perfect but I've come to the conclusion that there is no perfect time...

Thanks Homegrown, I must have missed you once had a typewriter. They are great aren't they? As for a dog, I have a few days i don't have covered for the dog but I am confident I will find a way :)
