I'm with you on the meal planning and budgeting DIA! I was doing fairly well this year but the last couple of months have been pretty rubbish. Must get back into it for the sake of my wallet, my health and my sanity!

Hope your coat and scarf nudge down in price soon :)

Thank you DIA - good luck for 2019

I'm getting ready for 2019 - hoping for a year of mainly gradual improvement with a few big changes/events. Will be good to see where we get to!!

Thanks HH. It is a good reduction but you would have to see the starting point to know why I am still waiting

  • So my hot water burst and the first I noticed was a wet chair.
I disobey all hot water bottle rules. I overfill, I use too hot water and top up with boiling :o My plan was no spend today but life without a hot water bottle is inconceivable so I will be going to Boots today. I will walk, so at least I get my 4 mile walk in.

As I am spending I will be buying my computer external drive.

I am thinking about next year like everyone else. I am wondering if I could live on £1,000 a month for the next three months. I can then siphon anything extra to doing things on the house. Once the big bay window is in in 2 weeks time :j I need to find the decorating money (the room has dodgy walls) and then the money to sand and seal the floor. I could do all this by Spring (I think) if I live on £1,000 until April

Right off to replace the hot water bottle.

I will be back later with an end of year summary which I am sure you are holding your breath for ;)

Enjoy your last day of 2018

Thanks for the confidence vote beanie. If I wasn't running a car I would say I could. I would want to be frugal, but not miserable and 'live' is what I want to do rather than survive, but I am going to give it a go. Also, if I left work to pursue (poorly paid but wonderful) creative pursuits living on £1,000 a month would a very useful skill ;) so I am keen to give it a practice run ;)
