well done on a debt free xmas. ours was a little extravagant as we had 12 sat down at the table - everyone over 18 years so it was quite alcoholic with FIL and SIL+family.

Fortunately I was lucky enough both to get £1K extra in my Dec pay and to know about it in advance so we made a decision to both have a good quality meal, and to get some things we wanted but didn't need as presents

a surprisingly large amount of alcohol given as presents all round - which was a surprise, but I think 2019 is going to be a year in which we may need a stiff drink now and again

enjoy the ballet - not my thing but I am in awe of their ability
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

  • Have a lovely time at the ballet DIA. I have fond memories of seeing both the Kirov and the Bolshoi when they came to Brum years ago. Utterly amazing.
If I don't catch up soon all the best for the new year. Keep inspiring us. X
The ballet was amazing. It was Matthew Bourne's all male version of Swan Lake.

Completely true. The funny thing is, I hadn't realised I knew that until you pointed it out

Thanks HH. I have had chocolates and other Christmasy treats at other people's houses now :)

  • Yesterday I did a long drive and encountered diversions. I righted myself pretty quickly but I am changing my mind and buying a sat nav (yes I know the other options so don’t need advise). I will do this some time next week.

Today is my first day alone and at home in 4 days, so the house is a dump, unwashed dishes are everywhere and there is food threatening to go off.

To get myself back to normality I will be making leek and potato soup as veg box delivered both yesterday. I do think the veggies are a little overpriced but I ALWAYS eat better when I have it as I can’t bear wasting anything so the fortnightly box is worth more than the sum of its parts :)

I will be tidying, cleaning, decluttering and later I will take a walk.

An easy, quiet day at last :j

I LOVE my satnag :) I've set it up to find the fastest route, and it deals with diversions/traffic jams automatically as they come up. I still sometimes find myself in a traffic jam, but in theory I'm still on the quickest route.

I'm with you on the veg box - probably overpriced and the quality isn't always fabulous, but it provides the basis for some healthy eating (I opt out of potatoes as a regular delivery and just add them in when I need some) and helps when I'm travelling so much I can't get organised to shop. I like the fact that I can add things on to my order too - keeps me out of the shops!

I've walked to the shop for milk and am now contemplating doing the tidying, cleaning, decluttering and paperwork that need dealing with before I go back to work on Wednesday. This includes trying to make at least one of the two bedrooms that are currently out of action habitable!
  • DH and I love having a satnav too. We have never got lost since using it and it takes all the stress away from going to unknown places.

I hope you got your walk in :).

  • A quiet few days and not much achieved. I was due to see a friend today who is unwell so YS shopped instead and got loads of fruit and veg all reduced to below 30p. :T :money: Really pleased as I want to up my eating of both. Vegan isn’t my thing as I end up too high carb but I will be eating lots more F&V in 2019. I will also be cutting my meat consumption and only eating organic at best and free range at worst for meat and diary.

I really need to begin budgeting and meal planning in 2019. I’ve never really got to grips with a sensible system :o I know I spend far too much in this area, always have but I have big changes coming up in 2019 so I will need to reduce this cost in order to use the funds on other things.

I’ve spent a lot on Christmas presents this year and I have been given some nice things too. But what I really want is a scarf in the sale and a coat that is more like a very dense cardigan. They are both reduced by 40% but they are still expensive so waiting for another price drop but also hoping they don’t all go altogether…

Off to write a meal plan and stick it on the fridge.

Enjoy your penultimate day of 2018
