You're feeling unsettled because you're about to spend a lot of money on the window and your sabbatical is approaching. You can save more money and the sabbatical is temporary, so you'll be fine, you just need to get used to these changes :).

I had an elderly neighbour once who was rude and unpleasant to us. When I found out she had terminal cancer I took some flowers around and her son was very pleased. It felt like the right thing to do.

    This. & this.

Too true nuts are pricey but if purchased as protein as part of a meal they are not. I have bought nuts again but this time I also bought apples and the plan is to snack on apples and use nuts as part of a meal. I love toasted cashews in a stir fry. I also mint and coriander leaves and add a fried egg on top. Yum.

Yes! A fried egg with a runny yolk is ESSENTIAL for me :) It's pretty much the only meal that my husband will happily have without questioning the absence of meat. Well, that and Mac & Cheese!

You are lovely DIA - I'm sure your neighbour will appreciate the gesture. We also had an elderly neighbour who regularly criticised things vocally to us (i.e. the two kids we have under 5 were playing too loudly in the garden *eyeroll*) and she didn't ever have time for pleasantries with us. She passed away very suddenly last year and we took a card round to her husband and attended her funeral. I'm not a grudge holder and i think it's nice to offer support and kindness to people in times of trouble, so i think you're doing the right thing.

I hope the unsettled feeling passes - I suspect it'll feel less prominent once you sit down and go through your plans for next year as you described. Once there's a plan in place you will hopefully feel more comfortable.

I hope you can find the source of the leak and it's not too costly to put right. It never rains but it pours...

Thanks HH. I agree with you. Hopefully I will settle soon.

Thanks for sharing the story about your neighbour Homegrown.
You are right. I don't want to hold a grudge.
I will act on the leak tomorrow before it gets worse. I will find the money from somewhere. I just need to rethink my budget.
I will feel settled once I start to get organised and the first payment for the window has gone.
Happy last day, and may your sabbatical be all you hoped for.
I hope so too. I am so thankful just to have the time to be creative and free for a while :)

I went out with 2 of my team at works for G&Ts. I only had one but it was nice.

I returned some clothes that were not quite right at the PO, got stamps and posted Christmas cards.

I got several bunches of flowers from well-wishers. Too many for me alone so I will re-gift a bunch to my neighbour.:money: I will take the flowers over tomorrow along with a Christmas card.

I take action on the slow leak in the kitchen tomorrow. I don’t have an indoor stopcock so I’ll also put one in but the money is an issue as I’ve spent all I have on the window. I won’t panic. I’ll just get a quote and take it from there. MASSIVE FROG

The really good news is I found out I have been awarded another prize today along with 7 others in my creative industry. I have 2 weeks full residency and board at a place I went to 2 years ago, an hours drive from Inverness. It is such a beautiful place. The award is worth £1,600 and will be a lovely treat to work towards as it is in mid March. They loved my work and that is such a confidence boost :j:j

For all my failings (and there are many) I am so thankful I can still create exciting opportunities in my life.;)

Wishing you all a lovely weekend

Sounds like a fabulous last day - congratulations on the award!
  • I’m in awe of your talents but completely bemused by some of your concerns given how recognised your work is.
Stop worrying and listen to the feedback from others when you doubt yourself. You may be in a scary place but you have a safety net, a job to return to. Also, the 2 weeks living costs you will save thanks to your latest award will probably cover the cost of an indoor stop !!!!
