    Thanks beanie.
He just arrived over an hour late and no apology and I don't get a good vibe but at least I will get a quote so I can make comparisons.

At least he turned up I guess. Although you're right, it is annoying. An apology or explanation would have been nice. Although nothing to stop them texting/calling/emailing or whatever to say they are running late!
  • It will be lovely to get the big window done :). Anyone can be late sometimes but an apology would have been polite .

    I’ve had a good day :)

I did not hear the squirrels. I might be sleeping but PLEASE let them be gone instead

I WFH and was grateful for the extra time in bed

I have already decided to do that window but the firm gave me a new figure £149 away from where I needed it to be. I said I would think about it to give me time to reshuffle budgets as it is already pushing it to get the window in the first place. Today I had a call dropping the additional £149. I can imagine sales drop off for them just before Christmas. I pay in January when no one has any money so their sales are low. I must remember this in future. I have taken £600 off the price. Starting to feel relieved and hope the work goes well. I have used them before and the windows are still good 8 years later.

Instead of a present I am treating a friend to a meal out at my local catering college. It is top notch fine dining and the students are a delight and eager to please. A 3 course meal will only cost me £12. :money: I will be going next week.

I feel like fish and chips and champagne tonight but I will be eating a chilli with cauliflower rice and a glass of water instead. Such is life.

I hope you had a good day too :)

Great news on the window! It's a good time to be getting it done, and they probably know you'll be back when you have more to do.

Sadly the guys who came round today don't do wood (they did say I should have been asked on the phone what I was looking for) but have recommended a local joiner, so I'll give him a call tomorrow if I have time.

    Good luck with the joiner.

I've been binge-watching George Clark's Old House New Home on C4 for ideas. I now have lots of ideas, and no clue how they do everything on their budgets...

Great news on the window saving DIA! It just goes to show how things can work out when you take your time and politely hold out for what you're looking for.

FRIDAY?? Did you say FRIDAY!? I can't believe it's come around so quickly. I may have missed this since I've been away a fair bit lately, but is this a 3 month sabbatical with you considering not going back at the end of it, depending on what happens? My brain isn't working.

Long may those pesky squirrels leave you alone to get a sleep in peace.

  • That's a great discount you negotiated on the window, well done :T.

You're doing well on the healthy eating too :).
