wongataa the windows 10 search is definitely not as good as the 7 search function for apps, people have made youtube videos demonstrating how bad it is.

Not to mention as I said it is not part of the start menu and is bloated. I just hit the windows key, type a couple of letters and app is listed.

Well in my experience it works fine, just like it does in Windows 7. As for the search box not being in the start menu itself - it does not bother me. That is personal preference, not anything bad per se.

which is fine, you just need to respect other people's personal preference as well.

I just think its wrong for people to say windows 10 is better for everyone, thats like removing freedom of will from a person.

There may be workarounds to the issues I posted, but what if I dont want to use those workarounds, the answer is simple I use a different operating system as is my free choice.

I could solve the windows 10 start menu of course with startisback, but I did mention in a previous post the reasons I dont use windows 10. Which you guys have at least seem to have respected and not shot me down for.

Going back to the original question, what are the odds that Classic Shell will continue to work with the imminent next version of Windows 10? With each of the last major updates MS turns off CS and it has to be reinstalled and enabled. Hopefully the current version, still available to download, will continue to work, otherwise I shall be looking for alternatives. I can never get on with the MS new fangled version.

Probably not. I tried to run a program on a tablet that auto updates and a box popped up saying we dont recognise this file and a cancel button which stopped the program loading. No obvious button to ignore it and carry on.

Its going to be a locked down system, you will only be able to run what they supply.

Thats the future i can see them taking..

Puzzles me why their error message for a home user OS tells you to contact your system admin etc??

I think the translation for that is, "Go away! This problem is nothing to do with Microsoft! You must have done something stupid! Learn how to use a computer, you cretin!"

In a lot of cases that is quite possibly true, but then they call me...

I have to explain that when it appears to be frozen or restarts after the do not switch off. leave it alone... Dont keep hitting that power button.... its going to take MUCH longer...

Ilike how it says contact your system admin then it says or the product manufacturer.. So MS break it and the product manufacturer are instantly liable for something MS did?

So glad i have disabled updates...
