Glad to hear Poppy is doing better. I agree with Baileys Babe - I'd definitely be happy to bring painting stuff if I had been mad enough to volunteer for a painting party!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Ha, all good suggestions!
Today has gone slightly awry - a friend of Mr Cheery's rang this morning to ask if he could bring a visitor out for a cuppa. Not just any visitor, but quite an important one on an epic overseas trip 😮 He's met Mr Cheery before and expressed an interest in coming out here...
I did a VERY quick wipe of the bathroom and picked my underwear off the floor and then had to leave them to it 🙄 Mr Cheery made scones which went down well, and now they're recording him (Mr Cheery) playing some kind of special ukulele the visitor brought over.
I've shut the chickens in, and am hiding away at my desk in the other room 😂
Not what I was expecting on a Wednesday afternoon! 😂 Never a dull moment!
Kitchen fitters rang to say they were coming tomorrow - but the council is closing the road again so we've got them to leave it til after the weekend - gives Mr Cheery chance to do a couple of extra things to the floor before they fit the next bit.
Granite (and then appliances) should be with us wb 29th...
Speaking of week beginning 29th... we're apparently going on strike. Three days, but one of them is a Friday so just two for me.
Oh, and in other non-money-saving news, it seems Mr Cheery got a speeding ticket last week 🙄 Easily done on that stretch of road - it's a very short 30mph zone in the middle of a very long stretch of national speed limit - there's no permanent camera there so it seems to have been a well hidden speed camera van. Not that he should have been speeding of course... 36 in a 30 zone so no idea whether he'll be offered the course instead of points. We've returned the form confirming he was driving and will wait and see.5 -
Gut feeling is that is within the "zone" for speed awareness Cheery - I got lucky and got one a few years ago for 39 in a 30 (yep - thought it was a 40 I was in!) but that was higher than would be usual - I have a feeling I was told then that the "standard" window is the limit plus 10% plus 5mph - so for a 30 that would be up to 38?

Quiet times indeed - what are they??
Thanks for that EH - I assume we'll get a notification in the post soon that will tell us if we're eligible but it sounds promising...
Visitor was cheerful enough, and appreciative of Mr Cheery's home made scones
Appliances are already here beanie! Two from Boots, bizarrely enough - who knew they sold hobs?! Can't remember where the other one came from, possibly Curry's?
Just checking back in with my little list for today:
* pay plumber invoice
* Make plan for visiting carpet shops on Friday
* ring at least one set of stone people re windowsills - left it too late to ring, but I've now made a list of people to ring tomorrow/Friday
* make a list of stuff I need to get before painting party on Saturday (realised we've only got a tester pot of the kitchen paint so need to stock up on that, plus extra brushes and paint pads, maybe an extra tray or two)
