Urgh, banks were a mess! I'd forgotten I'd got distracted last time half way through reconciliation, so it took me forever to figure out where I was up to. Done the main account, and then got half way through the credit card, and ended up getting distracted again. Now in the cafe 🙄😂
Did do a bit of spreadsheet updating though, although I'll want to do a little more. We've paid out just over £24,000 so far 😮 Still got another kitchen installment to pay plus granite, so that should take us up to about £30,000.
Not sure what's happening with builder - we paid two of his invoices near the start, but then have since been sent invoices for everyone else separately (plumber, apprentice, plasterer, and we paid the builders merchant directly for materials). So it looks like what we've paid the builder directly is just for the builder (and possibly electrician - not had an invoice for him yet, but then he's not quite finished yet).
Oh, and the kitchen fitting - which was on the original builder's invoice so it's possible that will go to him. The kitchen geezers itemised the kitchen and fitting separately, so we can make sure we're not charged by both for the same thing...
Decided I'm not focusing on raising any more dosh until all this DIY and everything is finished - just too many different things to focus on. Not saying I won't do the odd Prolific survey, or add whatever we get into the kitchen fund, but I'm not spending hours getting back into MB yet. A nice pass time for the new year when everything's done!6 -
That sounds a wise decision, Cheery, there's only so much head space for juggling lots of information streams. I'm glad you're in the cafe!2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Thanks KC,it was nice to be in the cafe! Not been for a few days!
So. We have been to the carpet shop, and somehow between that and the cafe it's taken the whole day 🙄 well, we also got watch fixed, picked up a load of painting stuff from Wilko, and lunch for tomorrow, and chatted to a neighbour and cleaned out the chickens, but even so.
We have made progress on the carpet though! The guy gave us a rough estimate based on my measurements, and we have brought home 4 sample books that we have to take back tomorrow - bit of a nuisance but there we are. Confident we can choose between the four, and they said they should be able to fit it in 2-3 weeks. We can finish painting before then, and then the bedroom will be ready for furniture, hooray!
Gosh carpet is expensive though, isn't it?! 😮😮 cheapest one (£8.99 a square yard I think) is going to come to over £700 with fitting and underlay etc 😮😮
Still, that's the route we've chosen, so here we are, and it will be SO nice to have a finished bedroom!
Tomorroe is all planned out. I have a set of Phase 1 activities allocated to individual people, phase 2, and then should we get as far as phase 3, I'm going to get them to give me a hand taking a load of stuff to the tip 😁
Right, food! And finishing off reconciling the credit card that I abandoned earlier 🙄8 -
Hope all goes well the morra

Yay for exciting carpet choices - hope you manage to find one that you like! It’s something we’ve got to face doing for here at some stage but the upheaval is going to be horrific so we’re going to put it off for a while longer yet! 😂🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Ha, yes, if we do this now there's pretty much NO upheaval as there's literally nothing in here 😁 But I want to do my study at some point and I am DEFINITELY putting that off as it's going to be a complete pain in the backside.
As for colour - kind of creamy beige apparently 😂 walls are going to be orange and gold, so floor is going pretty mild... They all look the same in this pic but they're subtly, and boringly, different. Struggling to get excited about beige carpet... 😂😂
Also struggling to get excited about masking taping the skirting, which is my job for this evening apparently. Personally I've been painting without masking tape, very slowly and carefully, but I'm not sure our visitors tomorrow have such steady hands, and we won't be glossing the skirting, so don't want to ruin it with orange paint... At least this will make painting much quicker tomorrow, and I can leave it on for when I do the second coat on Sunday.
Best get back to it I suppose...8 -
My bedroom used to be orange, possibly a similar shade to the wall we can see near the radiator, I had a mid-grey wool loop carpet which had flecks of orange in it.

Thanks BB, grey with orange flecks sounds interesting!
We're being a little constrained in our choices by how much we're willing to spend at this point. Because this is effectively two rooms knocked into one, the very cheapest carpet is going to cost about £700, including underlay and fitting 🙄 Certainly not willing to spend more than £900 at the absolute outside, so within that budget we're not going to get anything fancy, so it's really about something that will be relatively hard wearing without feeling like an office carpet 😂
Skirting is all masked now! Well, I ran out of tape, so didn't quite finish the bit I'll be painting - but at least I won't hold anyone else up. Except I will, because I've just remembered I didn't do the ceiling...
In the morning I've got to nip out and take these carpet samples back, pick up a couple of things I've realised we didn't get from Wilkos, and get back in time to do some more masking before they get here at 11. Doesn't matter if it's not quite finished of course, but it would be better if it was!6 -
Grey with orange specks sounds fab.
