Cheery's country living adventure

Cheery_Daff said:Ok, 24 minutes and BOTH of those things are now done - with considerable faffing and re-wording of the email of course. I think in my head I'm arguing with the builder, but in reality he's been completely reasonable and above board all the way through (apart from a very slightly frosty exchange with Mr Cheery near at the end, which was unfortunate). His original quote was very detailed, and he's already given me rough estimations of some of the extra costs for things we've had, so I imagine he has decent records. We'll see.
Vouchers ordered too - there is an expiry date for the link, but it's 3 months, not 1 month like I feared, so all good, and I've sent them to my work email so I can print (my home laptop doesn't talk to the printer without a LOT of huffing and puffing, whereas the work one does it with no fuss...)
Tomorrow's activities will depend on the result of my PCR test. I'm meant to be in work tomorrow, just for an hour but I was going to go in for the whole day... If I get a negative result by about 8am, I'll go in for the whole day. If it's between 8 and about 9.30, I'll work at home for the morning, and just go in for the hour I need to be there. If I haven't heard by 9.30, I'll shift my teaching online anyway and work from home - don't really want to leave it much later, as I don't want to mess anyone about.
All of that sounds good, and I'm not surprised asking the builder for details feels tricky. Absolutely reasonable, though! And I'm very sorry you *need* a PCR test. Hope it's negative.
And if it's positive, then obviously I'll be staying put! Mr Cheery, however, will be off on a little adventure regardless, as he left his phone in B&Q (and not the most local one either). I was surprised to get a text from him this afternoon while he was standing next to me - but it was B&Q saying they had the phoneClearly they'd checked his most recent text - which was from me (several hours before), asking if he was ok because he'd been in B&Q for so long

The B&Q thing has just made me giggle all over again! What a pain he’s got to go so far to get the phone back though!Sounds sensible to look to rearrange anything that needs it early in the day too - at least then everyone will know where they stand before it has a significant effect on their day.Fingers still x’d for a negative, though….🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yes, I'm hoping it's mostly plaster dust 🙄 I did have a rotten cold a couple of weeks ago, and have had a sporadic tickly throat after that, but had several negative tests in all that time, and it was only last night it started getting rather more persistent 🙄

Results came back negative, thankfully. I'm pleased, of course (although if only they'd been delayed by a few hours so I didn't have to go to work!) 🙄😂😂😂8

Don’t worry Cheery, you should probably stay at home as your coughing will scare everyone 😎8

Glad results are negative. Boo for having to drive to work. First hard frost this morning as well here. Have a good day xx2025 Decluttering 10472⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Definitely best to stay home Cheery! - if only to let your system rest & rid itself of the bug!
Last week I stayed home for a day with a sore throat and a touch of fever. The next day, no less than three people asked if I'd done a LFT/PCR and tested negative...very paranoid lot I work with, but given that a colleague who is super careful came down with the dratted thing week before last, I suppose paranoia is understandable! ...and yes I had tested, no less than three days in a row and was negative!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Tis indeed good to know, and I'm barely coughing at all today anyway, so unfortunately have trekked in to work 🙄😂 I can't really complain- technically I only have to actually be in the office for 3 hours this week 😂😂7
