Just LOOK how much more yourself you sound all of a sudden - what a difference! Never mid the work you're getting done, it sounds like the occasional day in the office is required purely from the perspective of time and distance away from everything else, where you can just be "you" rather than trying to be a partner, chicken mum, project manager etc as well!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks all 😊
Yes, I've had a lovely day at work! 😊 I have been going in once or twice a week since the end of September, but while everything's been going on it's rarely been whole days, just literally going in for specific meetings or whatever. A whole day felt like luxury! I did forget to take lunch though, bad MSE-er 🙄 But I didn't get it from the canteen - got a couple of reduced bits from the supermarket on the way in so it only cost £2.61 🙄
Delighted to say the day bed fits in the car, hooray! So that will be a lovely addition to the new spare room (which is our current bedroom, so won't be in use just yet).
Also delighted that I have potentially got a couple of volunteers for a painting party on Saturday, most excellent. Just need to co-ordinate which bit of painting is best to focus on - I'm thinking possibly the kitchen as there are lots of little walls so going round all the edges will take ages on my own, and we'll all be able to work on our own separate bits.
Right, need to sort out some tea!8 -
I've been painting cheery! The marks on my ceilings are barely visible (paint doesn't work quite the same over stainblock as paint so you can still see a vague difference, but I CBA to do yet another coat...). I'm currently doing the bathroom wall where I dropped bath oil over a year ago... I spot covered the stains, then stainblocked almost the whole wall (it's a small one round the window, and the ceiling slopes down a long way) and have done one coat of emulsion. It will get at least one more, if not two.
I've already done the half of the landing bookcase that didn't get done last year. and touched up the wall and skirting while I was at it. Once the books are back in, I need to do the top.
I'm glad I don't have any more whole rooms to do now!7 -
Well done greenbee!
Painting is one of my favourite DIY/decorating jobs so I'd rather be doing that than any of the other stupid jobs round here at the minute 😂
Mr Cheery has made some improvements to the slight hash the builders made of rehanging the cellar door 🙄 There now is NOT a howling gale blowing up from the cellar, so that's a definite improvement!5 -
Morning MSE chums!
Delighted to report that Poppy chicken attempted to walk a bit this morning! Not much, but she was standing when I lifted the cover on her run, whereas she's been pretty much constantly sitting down since we had her. Going to get her out of the dog crate to clean it today, so fingers crossed she's a bit more mobile.
Working at home today, with just one meeting so hopefully another productive day although more chicken involvement...
Money and house things to do today:
* pay plumber invoice
* Make plan for visiting carpet shops on Friday
* ring at least one set of stone people re windowsills
* make a list of stuff I need to get before painting party on Saturday (realised we've only got a tester pot of the kitchen paint so need to stock up on that, plus extra brushes and paint pads, maybe an extra tray or two)
Not too arduous 😊8 -
Good news on Poppy - fingers crossed as she starts to settle a bit more and get used to the idea that she is actually able to (literally) stretch her legs a bit, she will improve even more.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
