Cheery's country living adventure

Thanks beanie & hb 😊
They finally left at 3pm. Looks like a bit of a rush job towards the end and Mr Cheery is planning to redo at least one thing they've done 🙄 There's no way I'm getting them back again though, I'm rather do every last little bit of it myself at this point 🙄 Deep breaths.
I can't tell you what a weight has lifted from my shoulders knowing they're not coming back. They are utterly lovely people, but I have been SO wound up.
Won't be truly relaxed until everything is finished - units, worktops etc, but hopefully that will only take a day or two, and won't be for another couple of weeks.
Back to work for me today. Lots to do, several meetings, and I'm contemplating going into the office tomorrow.
We snagged a day bed on Freegle last night, very exciting! Didn't pick up the message til today, but it was sent last night, and said 'you can pick it up any time tomorrow afternoon' - which we took to be THIS afternoon (given they sent it last night). No phone number, so I replied online, and dispatched Mr Cheery (who was out and about anyway) in the general direction. They rang when he was about 5 mins away saying 'oh, I didn't mean today...' 🙄
Anyway, blah blah.9 -

I'm feeling extremely harrassed by Sainsbury's Bank, Cheery, but at least my home is my own - I really feel for you, having all those people in your house and having to check everything all the time. Day bed nonsense is annoying too! Hope you can have a celebratory something tonight.2023: the year I get to buy a car7

Thanks folks 😊 No celebrating tonight - a grumpy trip to Screwfix is in order, apparently 🙄
I've got to go to work tomorrow anyway, so I'm hopefully going to collect the bed on the way home. Going to spend the entire day in the office which is quite exciting - not done that for ages! I keep going in for part days, but not had a whole day for ages!8 -

Thank you!
Turns out the Freegle thing is MY fault 🙄🙈 In my defence, the way Freegle labels messages is a bit ambiguous, but they definitely sent their message this morning... So I owe them an apology, although the only person really inconvenienced was Mr Cheery, who drove a round trip of nearly 2 hours for no reason... 🙄6 -
Cheery - i now make sure I use the 'promise' button and agree a date and time which is then shared with the person picking up. If you want two small single mattresses and a trundle with folding legs, mine have been on there for ages... although it'll be more than 2 hours round trip!7

Thanks greenbee - I think we've got quite enough spare beds for now though! 😮😂
I'm in the office today, all day! It's great. Just focusing on work with no builders, no chickens, no nothing 😁 Makes me realise how rare it has been lately, no wonder I've been feeling overwhelmed. I've got loads done!
So, tonight I need to pick up this bed - not entirely sure where it's going to be stored... Frame will be ok in an outbuilding, but the mattress will need to be in the house, probably the new bedroom.
Hope the damn thing fits in the car...
I'm going to make a plan for the bedroom carpet tonight I think. It doesn't matter if the windowsills drag on a bit, but the carpet can't - we can't put anything in that room til it's in.
Right, back to work!7 -
Glad you've got your house back for now Cheery - you've been a saint to put up with them for so long! And glad you're enjoying your day in the office too.
