Mr Cheery informs me that we did, in fact, already choose the kitchen colour... I thought we'd just bought a tester pot and not made a final decision, but Fortune, you will be delighted to hear that (apparently) we have, in fact, chosen... yellow 😂😂
You know it makes sense 😂

Thanks for those links greenbee, you learn something every day!
Builders are here and progressing with the skirting board, and we have so far spent the morning bathing Bonnie Chicken, who had a rather grim rear end 🙄 She'd laid a few soft shelled eggs a couple of weeks back, and I assume some got stuck in her feathers, and I'd been hoping it would just wear off with a bit of preening help from her...
But it got bad enough that we figured she needed help, and we were right - it was more grim than we thought. All clean now though and having objected wildly while we were doing it, she's fine now and tucking into a grape or two while she dries off in the living room.

Cleaning pets backsides is always grim.... but I'm sure she appreciates it! Your chickens are pampered with the amount of time they spend in your house! 😂Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Not sure she appreciates it yet 🙄😂 But she will certainly feel lighter - they do like to be clean! She's dried off enough to do back in with the others now 🙄6

Gosh, it's barely got light at all today! 🙄
I had a lovely long lunch (egg butty 😂 ) in a (different) cafe with my friend - Just over £10 including paying for hers so not toooo bad. Then nipped to a different to usual town for some supplies for the new chickens, and a bit of a charity shop potter for me (er, forgot about uber frugal November...)
Back home now, and upstairs is fully skirting boarded!! So exciting!! 😁😁8 -
That IS exciting - as in my view is an egg butty - we had fried egg sarnies for breakfast last weekend, so simple but so good! Must have them more often!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I don't generally have egg butties when I'm out as I usually eat a lot of eggs at home... but at the minute we've got one elderly chicken who's not laying, one young one who I suspect is not laying at all, and another one who's slowed right down because of the daylight hours. On about 4 eggs a week at the minute, if that, so it didn't seem excessive!6

Morning MSE chums 😊
Today is an up and down day.
Cheery things
* nice trip to cafe
* bedroom door is on, and we've found a nice lock to fit
* downstairs woodwork (but not skirting) will be done today
Slightly more stressy things
* we have visitors popping up in an hour, more for their benefit (getting out of the house) but still need to tidy up
* just had a bit of a difficult conversation with the builder - we offered to do the skirting downstairs (which they were planning to do) if they sorted out the edging on the odd step between kitchen and dining room. Looks like they can't (or don't want to) do what we'd got planned, but have suggested a decent alternative, which is fine - except they apparently can't get back to do it til after Christmas 🙄 I don't know whether that means they wouldn't have had time to do the skirting til after Christmas... but it may well turn out that we end up doing both ourselves, which wasn't exactly the plan 🙄
Mr Cheery isn't pleased with this turn of events and has gone off to process things...
I'm ready to just throw everyone out (including Mr Cheery, and the visitors) and finish the whole darn thing myself! 🙄9 -
Hmmm - that’s not ideal is it. Not least as it’s stressing MrC out more than needed, and that in turn is stressful for you, of course! What happens if you say to them OK, that’s fair enough, you don’t want to still be waiting that long to get jobs finished so not to worry, revert to plan A and they will do the skirting as they had been meant to - oh, and by the way do they have a date for completion of the works and pulling off site yet? Probably one to have without MrCheery in earshot in case the answer isn’t what you hoped, but at least then you’ll know if they are looking at several more months - which seems excessive, and if so you can have the “that’s not acceptable “ conversation with them, again without Mr C about and getting more upset? I really do feel for you though - this is bringing back all kinds of memories of how stressful our kitchen was - and you remember the traumatic experience that turned in to!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
