Cheery's country living adventure

๐๐ Yes, purple would completely be in keeping ๐ We painted our old kitchen sage green and really liked that, so it may be some variation on that.ย
So. Paid plasterers invoice - and bizarrely the money seems to have gone out, then been immediately refunded into the bank. Why?? Of course their phone lines are perpetually busy and I've not had the patience to spend 30 mins on hold yet today.ย
Kitchen fitters have sent their latest invoice too - I've requested a pile of dosh from the premium bonds account and told them it will likely be paid at the weekend.ย
Bit faff doing it in stages, but it's less of a risk for them I suppose, and it's feeling much less like there will be a nasty shock at the end! Plasterer's invoice only came in about ยฃ300 above what was included in the original quote for plastering so that's good (although I think the builders will have a bit to add on for fitting a couple of stud walls and doing a bit of boarding so it will end up more, as I expected).ย
Kitchen fitters have balanced one of the units on a couple of small blocks of wood because the floor is uneven - obviously you won't see it when the base boards are on but Mr Cheery thinks it looks precarious so we'll likely replace it with something more sturdy ourselves ๐
I'm having a week off work this week, although I confess it dodoesn'exactly feel very restful! I'm still sniffling and have been on the sofa for 4 nights now (don't feel sorry for me though - our sofa is very big and comfy, and I often sleep better on the sofa than in bed, principally because I'm on my own and can toss and turn and 'breathe heavily' as much as I like ๐ ).
Back in a min with a plan for the rest of the week...9 -
REST OF WEDNESDAY
* ring nephew to say happy birthday
* put up another ceiling panel
* make some healthy food for tea
* nice bath
THURSDAY
* cafe - meet friend
* Mr Cheery is out, builders are in
* can I get the rest of the ceiling panels up?? There will be five left but I'll have most of the day!
* ring round to get someone to come out to quote for windowsills
FRIDAY
* friend is running a wreath making workshop in the morning that I'd like to go to
* if builders are in, finish kitchen ceiling (put remaining panels up, seal round edges, paint)
* if builders aren't in, paint bedroom ceiling and maybe do fist coat on the walls
SATURDAY
* collect new chickens! This will be a 3 hour round trip, and I might meet a friend who lives near the collection point beforehand, and then there will be chicken supervision, so not planning anything else
* possibly more first-coat painting in evening
SUNDAY
* More chicken supervision
* 2nd coat painting in daylight
And then back to work on Monday! ๐8 -
What a plan!
Our kitchen was meant to be a sage-y sort of colour but then Dave-the-Builder came back with something a bit more minty and we actually liked it so that's what we went with. He was surprisingly good on the colour front - the grey wall in the bathroom was his idea, my initial reaction was that I didn't fancy it but it looks amazing!ย๐ MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 ๐ And now we go againโฆNew mortgage taken 01/09/23 ๐ก

Green is very restful I think (it's Mr F's favourite colour).ย And sage green would be in keeping with the age and style of the house.ย Minty green is great too though - very refreshing.ย We went for Churlish Green which we thought would be restful but also bright to lighten our dark hallway and it does work.ย It has a yellow base to it so goes with all our yellow walls ๐
And of course you could choose.... yellow! ๐๐๐

Churlish green?? Love it!
Mr Cheery informs me that we did, in fact, already choose the kitchen colour... I thought we'd just bought a tester pot and not made a final decision, but Fortune, you will be delighted to hear that (apparently) we have, in fact, chosen... yellow ๐๐6 -
Where does the light come from? That'll make a difference to what you should choose. My kitchen is east facing, so green (Dulux Cornish Clay on the walls, Dulux rope ladder on the window/architrave/skirting and hopefully one day the door, dark green units).ย4

Why does east=green?
We have two South facing windows, and two north. There are quite a few trees though, and kind of enfolded by the wings of the house (sounds more grand than it is) so some lovely direct light at certain times, and a bit dingy at others.6
