I'm sorry to hear that you had to let Rusty go - it is the last loving thing we can do for our animal companions, no matter how hard it is for us.

Also sorry that you have the lurgy, I have heard that there are some nasty ones around at the moment. Please take care of yourself.

Hurrah! for the departure of the skip. It does sound as if things are moving for you now.

Wow!  Amazing kitchen space Cheery.  Look what you did!  It's going to be fabulous and so, so worth the disruption.  We're almost at the end of our six week decorating/window fitting/plumbing fest and I'll be so glad.  There's more to do but I'm going to need a good long rest before going back in the water 😆

Oh EXCELLENT progress - but, just one question.....who EXACTLY do you have visiting who you imagine is going to scrutinise your ceiling that closely?!  

Hopefully by now the kitchen has started arriving and it's all beginning to feel even more "home stretch"!

Not going to feel home stretch until all trades have gone sadly - the kitchen fitters weren't expecting to have to do any plumbing so we've had to do a DIY shop run for fittings, and Mr Cheery hasn't exactly been reassured by them... 🙄 Builder possibly on his way over to check/reassure us in a bit 🙄

Goodness I will be SO glad when this is all over!

Ugh - it never runs smoothly, does it! Fingers crossed that the rest of the day will be a little easier and the builder turns up to reassure!

I can see why Mr Cheery is concerned.  A kitchen is full of plumbing, how can there NOT be some to do?  I've been wanting a new kitchen for at least 5 years.  I suspect my kitchen sink unit may fall apart before I admit defeat.  I just can't face it.  One of the problems is dealing with people telling you what you ought to want when you really know that you don't.  Then there are the ones who when they discover I live with my son, want HIS approval.  That's a good way of not getting the job.

Just catching up Cheery. Sorry to hear about Rusty, but as everyone has said, you gave her a wonderful life.

Glad the skip has gone but sorry to hear about ongoing issues with the work. You must be totally, thoroughly and completely fed up with it all by now. The kitchen ceiling looks great though!

I know what you mean - these are all reasons we were going to do everything ourselves, but health and laziness and generally being overwhelmed intervened 🙄

In reality these guys were (I think) having a bit of a friendly dig at their workmate (the builder) who is very meticulous, without realising we LIKE him being meticulous and actually find that reassuring. All plumbing done now - it was really only the bit from the wall to the sink, which had been left so they could plaster behind it. 

Anyway, just heard from builder, he's spoken to kitchen fitters and is coming over tomorrow to do skirting. We are, inevitably, in the cafe, although at this time of day we're perched on a completely unsuitable table as there's barely any room. 

Mr Cheery is off to a band practice for the evening, so I have the house not quite to myself, but I'll be there on my own later. Bliss! Might paint the bedroom ceiling.

OK, I like painting, but not ceilings 🙄😂😂 I knew this, of course, but haven't painted a ceiling since the old house (except the kitchen ceiling, which is just tiny bits at a time). Getting there, but YAWN 😂😂

Still, painting was an optional extra on the builder's original quote and they wanted about £1700 i think so I'm consoling myself that we're saving that much by doing it myself 😂 Definitely looking forward to the walls though!
