Cheery's country living adventure

You definitely need to have a few day of those upcoming 2 weeks off just doing absolutely nothing! I feel tired just reading about everything you do! 🍰TDQ - I had YNAB4 but only moved to the web based version in Jan this year. You should get 10% lifetime discount for having had a previous version and if it isn't showing up YNAB can sort it out for you. They did for me when I contacted them. See the FAQ at the bottom of this link. If you need to contact them there is a link at the foot of the get support page. It is a bit annoying having a subscription model now though - I think I only paid £9 for YNAB4! *need blue shreiky emoji here* 😂😂Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!
MFiT-5 no 45You can't fly with one foot on the ground!5 -
Cheery has a chicken thread? Where can that be found please? It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.4 -
Cheery doesn't have a chicken thread - Cheery posts on Edwink's lovely chicken thread! 😁 I think it's under greenfingered money-saving, or it's also listed in Edwink's signature if you spot her on here (i think she posted a few days ago). Or I'll find it tomorrow when I'm not meant to be asleep and post a link!
Taka yes I think I got YNAB for something similar to £9 originally. Subscription is annoying, but it did help me get a handle on everything and I do like it!
Had a lovely evening with pals - they made an excellent tea, and we actually watched the football 😂😂 we are all the most un-footbally people,so all our commentary was 'what is that many writing in that notebook?' 'Has the referee got a llama keyring on his whistle?' 'How is that guy's headband staying on?' 😂😂
Mr Cheery didn't want to watch the penalties so we left just before they started, and our route home didn't take us past anything that gave us a clueso we still have no idea who won 😂😂7 -

And ElmoR I didn't spot you there when I posted yesterday, sorry! You're right of course about reviewers. I am pleased to say U did finally submit on Friday afternoon - let's hope it isn't still ping ponging back and forth in the review process in two years time like another of my articles 🙄 (it's a co-authored one, I'm not in charge 🙄 )9 -
Well, a bit of an all over the place day!
Bit of sewing, cafe trip with a friend, pulled up the old vinyl floor in the kitchen, an attempted cafe trip with Mr Cheery (it was too busy so we left), more sewing, then the kitchen makers turned up - they were lovely and SO helpful - turns out one of them grew up just down the road from where we used to live, and was in a band with someone Mr Cheery has also been in a band with 😂 so we compared notes on that for a while 😂😂
Realised I made one lot of blueberry muffins but got sidetracked without swapping the other lot into the tiny oven, so now need to do that (and make some tea).
Kitchen now seems to be pushing into September... I'm not holding my breath but I REALLY do want it done for Christmas...9 -
Blueberry muffins fresh from the ovenMy personal record for a manuscript pinging around is a decade. There is a huge power relationship, that isn't very pleasant at times, in supervisor-student/advisor-postdoc dynamics, where you productively prepare manuscripts and the person in the corresponding role drops the ball, repeatedly, and doesn't see picking it up again as a priority. Their careers are fine, yours hangs in the balance and you need the publications. One of my postdoc advisors sat on 3 or 4 manuscripts for literally years, leaving me with nothing to show for 3 years of work on my CV. Of course, there is the opposite end of the spectrum where the advisor-supervisor won't let you finish your studies until you complete one more dataset...there should be rules/regulations or at least well publicised, best practice, standards that govern these relationships/roles. It's another of those working dynamics in academia where the 'good 'uns' get penalised and the selfish ones get promoted!*mutter mutter*12

Mutter mutter indeed - that sounds shocking! Fortunately in my case that isn't what happened - we had a difference of opinion about which journal to submit to, I lost, and now we're pinging around doing repeated revisions in a manner which I completely predi ted at the beginning 😂 It's VERY hard not to say "I told you this would happen with this journal" - and also quite galling to have to spend loads of time faffing around when I thought it was a bad idea in the first place!
Anyway, blah blah 🙄 trying not to be tooo grumpy about it 😂
I joined the gym last night 😮 Need to do something - I feel sluggish and awful and it's starting to dominate everything and make me not want to do stuff. I've enjoyed starting cycling again, but wanted the discipline of classes. And the local gym had an offer - £10 for the rest of July - and only has a rolling 1 month contract, so I've joined and am trying to start some good habits while I'm off.
Body conditioning class today! 😮 No idea what that will be like - I am SO unfit 🙄 But that's not going to change unless I make an effort, so... Wish me luck! Booked on indoor cycling tomorrow evening too (although I've walked past when they've been doing it a few times recently and they seem to drag all the bikes outside and do it overlooking the park so we'll see 😂 )

Ooh, good luck with the gym Cheery! That sounds like a bargainous offer, what a good way to get people in though. Dragging the bikes outside for a better view sounds good to me!
You're not alone btw, I've put on more weight than I'd like/like to admit so am back to calorie counting on mfp and making sure I get my steps in... I know these things make a difference for me. Also, with parkrun starting back up soon, I think DH and I will be attending that for the first time.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
