This is like reading a really well written thriller, full of complex twists and turns, and I never guess what's really going on with the good ones

Ooh that new kitchen sounds intriguing. We had an offer when they stopped supporting YNAB but didn’t take it up. Poor decision I think now4

Cheery, do you ever stop for breath? I'm glad you managed to get those couple of paragraphs done, hope you can take your foot off the gas a bit over the weekend.
Strangely, I first came across the word 'birling' in Quebec a couple of years ago (in a song) and haven't met it again until I read it here. It's not difficult!

'Wonder' - to feel curious.4 -
😂😂 you lot 😂😂 I think my main talent in life is spinning a long yarn out of a series of small and insignificant happenings 😂
Don't feel like I've stopped for breath today though, although of course I have. Meeting first thing, quick cafe trip (which I didn't have time for, but did work while I was there). Nipped into town for prescription, then a couple of friends came over for an impromptu visit. He's an old pal of Mr Cheery's, and she's recently developed early onset dementia 😕 He's really struggling, and so of course we are available when needed. They are great music lovers, so we just sat in the garden in the sunshine and Mr Cheery and his pal sang and played guitar and we just listened while the chickens pottered about (see, a whole afternoon of leisure for me).
I was expecting they'd only want to stay an hour (that's what happened last time) but she was actually quite relaxed and they ended up here til about 5.
Of course I then had to get back to work - it's my last day before a fortnight off. I've just finished 😮😮 Absolutely REFUSE to start again once I've stopped, and I'm off over a marking deadline, so the deal is everything had to be done before I went. And then of course there were some student misdemeanors, necessitating extra paperwork 🙄
Anyway,I did manage to ruthlessly prioritise, and so everything that must be done did get done, and some things that I would have liked to do have been left til I get back. Right now I care, but I can guarantee by tomorrow I'll have forgotten all about them in a flurry of worrying about kitchens and chickens 😂
Ready for a stiff drink then bed now!10 -
Ooh, and I'll tell you what's exciting - I only have THREE weeks of full time work left!!
Two weeks off
Two weeks in
Two weeks off (yes, ridiculous)
One week in
Then it's September and I get Fridays off forever!! 😁😁
Very excited, but also quite cross that my planned work summer project has barely started 🙄 But I suspect part of that is me taking it rather easy after a difficult year... and part of it was me being overambitious in the first place!13 -
Holiday! Yay! Metaphorically high-fiving happily for you - and what a lovely afternoon that sounds yesterday. Definitely want to hear about fun times with chickens, here or on the chicken thread2023: the year I get to buy a car6

Well we are home from the cafe, and I am planning on spending most of the rest of the day right here 😊😊

Just reminding myself to do a bit of a check of MB offers tomorrow - I've been completely ignoring everything other than casino for months, but apparently there might be some stuff happening tomorrow...
Also while I'm off I want to do a general audit of my MB accounts - there are some daily casino offers I keep skipping over as I don't have an account, so it might be time to do a few more welcome offers 😁only up to about £30 so far this month i think, so it would be nice to boost things a bit!6 -
Trawled through a few MB offers and made about £15 in total (and have now lost most of it on casino offers 🙄). I've done a bit of digging though and realised I'm not gubbed in a few places i thought I was, so that opens up a few more daily opportunities.
We nipped out for a cuppa in a different cuppa, which was nice, although I did get yelled at by an extremely grumpy motorcyclist 😮😮 My misdemeanor was (apparently) to slow down to let a large piece of farm machinery come round a narrow corner without me squeezing past it and forcing it to slow down on a narrow bend/hill 🙄 He was SO angry, beeping his horn and yelling at me. Amusingly we caught up with him at a junction, and gave him a nice wave, and asked if he was having a nice day 😂 He started yelling at the person on the other side of the junction who had committed no infraction that we could see 🙄
As usual, I'm always grateful that I have encountered such people for five minutes, whereas they have to live with themselves forever 🙄
Anyway, we off to see some friends for tea tonight so I am going to attempt to make a rhubarb and custard cake 😮Wish me luck, I am NOT a natural baker 🙄😂10 -
It's all happening at your place Cheery! Chicken run upgrades, ceilings, sinks, kitchens, gutters...and juggling work. You are overdue your holiday!!Manuscript writing - same as Chigle said - just bang it in and tart it up when the reviewer's comments come back. Reviewers need a few easy comments to make. You do them a favour.8
