Cheery's country living adventure

Please consider getting what3words app on your phone, https://what3words.com (what3words has given every 3m square in the world a unique 3 word address). You can put this in your 'address' to help people (like the fire brigade/police/ambulance/delivery drivers) to find your place.Cheery_Daff said:Tyre fitting geezer is here - had to go and collect him from the place the satnav takes everyone - like many other people he'd missed our sign... when he rang to say he was lost, I asked what he could see, and he said 'fog' and 'a farm' 😂😂 helpful! Then he got here and said 'I don't understand why anyone would live somewhere like this'🙄 Cheeky so and so.
We did this, and it meant I could find HWTHMBO when he crashed his bicycle (breaking his collarbone, ribs and shoulder blade) on a bridleway in the middle of nowhere (https://what3words.com/mining.momentous.finally).
We use it a lot now to point the police at abandoned cars, and the council at flytipping in our rurality.

just in case you need to know:
HWTHMBO - He Who Thinks He Must Be Obeyed (gained a promotion, we got Civil Partnered Thank you Steinfeld and Keidan)

I'm with you SJ, on the local news/weather yesterday evening they were talking wistfully about whether we might get some snow. When we do have it (very rare - I've lived in this particular area for 14 years and I think we've had snow on the ground twice 🤣) it's never around long enough or deep enough for it to cause the disruption they get elsewhere, so snow is still exciting for us!shangaijimmy said:Well it there's lots of snow coming I can guarantee that we'll get some rain... The kids are desperate for a good dumping of snow so that we can go out with the sledge, but alas the weeks are running out fort another year!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

We barely get snow either. We had a tiny dusting a couple of weeks ago and before that it’s been a couple of years. Looking forward to it if it happens!6

My sister is always proper jealous of our snow! I don't mind it but I don't take full advantage with snowmen and sledges...
FA - thanks for the whatthreewords reminder - I do have it and know the (mildly amusing) exact locations of our kitchen and bedroom 😂 I just keep forgetting to give it out to people! And in this case I ordered online and there was no space for delivery instructions, so it's their own stupid fault if they got lost 🙄
But it's a good reminder for the future, and for if we ever get to have visitors again!
Today is NOT going as planned. I have SO much to do and just can't settle. Someone forgot a meeting at 12, so now I have to meet them this afternoon. My leg hurts from sitting so much - going to sort out the standing desk in a min. Mr Cheery has just left for a docs appointment so inevitably I'll have to stop again to talk to him when he comes back. I've had to stop to clean out the chicken house. Need to just get on!
I suppose I've got an hour now before he gets back... let's see how much I can do (although some of it is going to go in this meeting...)
Hey ho!7 -
I am SO grateful for our greenhouse, gifted by an extremely kind and generous MSE-er a few years back 😁 It replaced a cheerful plastic one from Wilkos, entirely unsuitable for our windy and exposed site (but highly recommended for a more sheltered spot!).rtandon27 said:

Must make good use of it this year!7 -
So. I didn't get everything done yesterday so here I am up and trying to finish things now, before a meeting at 8.30 with some folks on the other side of the world - unusual for me but becoming common for a few months as I take on someone else's role for a bit.
Not pleased at working this early, but I'm on the sofa with a hot water bottle, and of course we never took the Christmas tree down so the fairy lights are all twinkly 😂 Just waiting for the laptop to boot up.

Oh Cheery - I feel for you - I'm often working late into the night because of time-zone issues!!! Can't imagine having to do one that early in the morning!! Glad to hear the twinkle lights gave you a sense of cosiness this morningCheery_Daff said:...before a meeting at 8.30 with some folks on the other side of the world ...
