Good lord that was a long day 😮😮 Worked 6.45am til 7.45pm, with just an hour's break for a walk 😮 Five hours of video calls, and then when I stopped I did the dishes, hoovering, and a trip to @ldi. Will sleep well tonight!4

You poor thing! Such a long day! I really hope you get a lovely nights sleep and a lay in x3
-
Fat chance of a lie in - chickens need to be out by about 8 🙄 But I've had a nice morning since then. Pancakes for breakfast, and watching some cheery gardening videos with a cuppa.
Got lots of plans for this weekend, let's see how they go 😂 The snow is meant to set in later today, so I'm going to clean it the chickens and do some greenhouse pottering this morning, and then move back inside for some plasterboarding, which I've been avoiding, but which I'm sure will be fine once I get started... here's the weekend list...
ADMIN
* ring and renew car insurance
* check banks/YNAB
* throw tyres refund at mortgage
* sort out customs bill - I was promised by the seller there wouldn't be one, so I need to contact them and see if they'll pay it
* check online reviews for windows guys
* then either arrange another quote, or book these guys to do it
OUTSIDE
* clean out chicken house and replace bedding
*top up food and treats containers in our house (means I don't have to go out to the outbuilding in my dressing gown every morning)
* dig a load more compost/mud off the ground at the other end of the run (it's raised by about 4 inches now!)
* replace with woodchip
* sort out greenhouse shelves
* get compost bags out of car and into greenhouse
*possibly plant out some garlic
DIY
* fit rest of draught proofing on back door
* start plasterboarding
* noticed this morning that upstairs radiator is leaking - my jeans have been on it for a few days and were soaked 🙄 Need to sort that out - hopefully just by tightening a nut...
PEOPLE
* ring friend who texted the other day
*ring mum
* video call with friends (I think we said tomorrow night, must check)
* arrange video call with other pals
I think that's probably quite enough, don't you?? 😂6 -

Wait til I've done it all for the respect KC, you know how I am for an overambitious list! 😂
Having said that, I've done most of the outdoor tasks - cleaned out the chickens, dug a load of compost put and replaced with new wood chip, and sorted the greenhouse, including rebuilding the shelves in a slightly different shape. More room, but I'm still not happy with it - and I've just remembered we've got another set of plastic shelves in the garage which I might pinch instead, they're a bit wider. We'll see.
Both of us sat with the chickens for ages, which was nice, and got quite a bit of tidying up done in there too.
Started properly raining now though, so we've made them all cosy and come back inside to get cosy ourselves. I've had an omelette for lunch (must be nearly spring - we've had three eggs both of the last two days).
Just warming up with a cuppa then I'm going to get on the case with the plasterboarding before I lose momentum...5 -
I just love the idea of you sitting with the chickens, Cheery, it sounds lovely.2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Tis indeed lovely (if a bit cold). Here's me with Bessie (foreground) and Rusty (background), and Beaky on the other perch 😁 I love how they just come and sit on your knee, and do some preening, or nod off 😁 The new chickens won't, but I hope they'll get more comfortable with us in time...
Got ONE piece of plasterboard up! Whether it stays up remains to be seen... my experimental piece that I put up a few months ago is still there so fingers crossed... Two down, 41 (I think) to go 😮😂

That is lovely. One of my mum's chickens comes up to the house and potters round the kitchen and will have a stroke but that's on another level!6
-
Ours spend SO much time in the house when they're not under bird flu lockdown orders. Oddly enough they don't like being stroked at all - it's a guaranteed way to make them get off your knee again 😂 Funny little creatures! I'd love to have a chicken that would like a cuddle but none of ours ever have.
Managed to attach another two bits of draught proofing to the back door just now. There's quite a bit of water coming in round the bottom - I knew that of course as the floor is always wet... I think the outside weather board needs replacing but I just cannot contemplate that right now 😟
Going in the bath instead 😁 And then a friend apparently has some kind of virtual mystery role play planned for us later this evening 😮😂5 -
Lovely pic of the chickens!!4
