Look at you lot with your chicken love 😍 I'm so pleased with their feathers. All these three are ex battery hens, and were quite straggly when they came to us (almost 2 years ago now! 😮) The two closest to the front both had hormonal implants this year - sorted out their reproductive issues but left them moulting and moth-eaten. So lovely to see them all nicely plump and well feathered again!
Well it is FREEZING here this morning. Only a dusting of snow, about half an inch, but gates and door handles are frozen solid and there's a bitter wind. Definitely a day for indoor things!
Been eating pancakes and watching gardening videos again (favourite weekend morning activities). Trying to do a blog post but my laptop is running SO slowly, and keeps crashing 🙄 I did finally get round to backing up my photos, so I've deleted everything from before 2016 😮 but it's made no difference (there were 20,000 pictures so I thought it might speed things up a little bit at least!!)
Hey ho. I'm going to get sick of trying in a minute, and head back to see if the plasterboard is still stuck to the ceiling when I take the props down... Fingers crossed...9 -
Love your chicken picture. Although my favourite was the one with you having a chicken on your head. I used to have chickens I do miss them xx2025 Decluttering 10472⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ha, yes Miss Money Penny, that was one of my favourite pictures too 😁 She was trying to get away from one of those angelic old ladies you saw sitting on my knee in that last picture, and just jumped right up there and sat down 😂😂
Gosh it's been chilly today!! 😮😮 I've not been outside except for chicken duties, and those have been accomplished as quickly as possible.
Still, SOME things have been achieved... but I'm going to get a cuppa and list them on the laptop so I can refer to my original list, which I forgot about when I started writing this on my phone... 😁5 -
Actually, scrap that, i'll just tell you what I've done rather than moan about what I didn't 😁
We now have FOUR (out of about 43...) bits of plasterboard in the ceiling! I've cleared out the greenhouse and reorganized the shelves (not finished though). Very glad I did all outside tasks including chicken things yesterday as today has been FREEZING.
Found car insurance stuff. It's with Direct Line and I'd forgotten their multi car thing is a discount, not a multi car policy, so we have one in each of our names 🙄 Helpfully (not) one is on auto renewal and the other not 🙄 so need to ring them.
Also need to check house insurance - that's auto renewing this week, but renewal quote is £60 more than last year at £350 😮 Not sure why. I did tell them we were having building work done but obviously that's finished now (what we're doing now counts as decorating). Will investigate, might have to switch them, yawn.
That's it I think. Had a little sort out of the paperwork folder so that's a bit tidier. Spent most of the day messing with laptop as it was running SO slowly - think we've improved in a bit. Had a trip into the loft to stick some stuff up there, and retrieve some other stuff. Much mouse evidence up there and many things being eaten... not on my priority list right now though 🙄
So. Money Monday tomorrow and looks like I have plenty to do! House insurance as priority - can get other quotes online before I ring to cancel. And will try to remember to ring car insurance who I think are only open til 5.
Oh, and I've contacted the Etsy seller about the customs bill they insisted we wouldn't get. I ignored the first one, but now they're threatening debt collectors and extra charges so I've just paid the damn thing and will attempt to retrieve it from them. Probably on a hiding to nowt but...5 -
Gosh, that was a faff!
Both car insurance renewed.
Looked for quotes for house insurance - many coming in under £200, and renewal quote is £350 😮 Decided on one for £199 and tried to pay, but it's saying it can't accept my card details, and I'm not chasing it now. Tried to get a quote from the car insurance people as they don't do comparison sites, but they won't give me an internet quote (why??)
YAWN.
And of course I have the old anxiety- are those trees closer than 5 meters? I suppose that's pretty easy to work out with a tape measure. But are they over 10 meters high? Possibly... which doesn't help...
Gosh I hate sorting house insurance more than I hate car insurance!!
And it's almost 10am - I need to start work not be faffing about with this!8 -
Hmm, now had an email saying the home insurance payment HAS gone through... most mysterious...7

More progress. I ordered a 'chimney sheep' last night to stuff up the chimney in my study when I'm not using it to prevent such a howling gale. It's been dispatched today so hopefully will be here soon!
Also had a call from new windows people - they're coming to quite on Wednesday when the weather's a bit more reasonable.
And we found the curtains I want to hang over the study door to keep some of the breeze out. Just need to find an appropriate rail, screws etc. Might try that tonight.
I WILL be warm in this room, damn it!! 😂😂7
