 Hiya! Feeling more positive now, not quite sure why.... had to work, and its left me .... okay, this is my third go.... with a sense of gratitude for what I *do* have, not just physically but everything else too.

KP tho - I'd only done a fair bit cos I couldn't sleep, and my back was sore lying in bed! Oh damn, I forgot to be grateful! :rotfl: Okay, sometimes I'm not as evolved as I'd like to be! :D

Hi Panda! Yes, it was a small one, and it was for a sarnie that I actually wanted to eat, which is something - if it had been that t shirt I had to buy, I'd have felt really bad. I can sell the t shirt on if I ever register at ebay, its a trendy one.

Still not done anything with the pasta maker - it will be Thursday, I reckon, at the earliest :o Your gadget sounds great! And its not electronic! It sounds like the old haybox cookery, what a good idea! We have a Works round here, I'll check it out maybe.

Right, starving here, I'm off to check my lunch. See you guys soon :T

Odd. Just thinking about how things are.... what I *feel* like doing in the morning is coming on and checking a dozen or so diaries.... but there's only about 3 on my user list, with *one* post, and then the person is gone. In other words, people are getting up and getting on with things. I have to do that. Income this week is doing well, but I'm a bit spooked by all the recession news. And with doing my accounts - when I do a budget, it looks like I can get by on 'x' amount, and it feels like thats what I'm doing. But when I look at what I earned last year, its much more than that 'x' amount - so where's it going? I've had a lot of expenses on the house - the porch, the windows, the leaks through the walls.... I'm surprised to be saying this, but I need to keep a closer eye on income and expenditure.

Re the 'pasta thingy' - it might be good at portion control but I now bring water back up to boil after pasta put in, put lid on and switch gas off - cooks in around the same time as normal without shelling out for a new toy!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Oh! Gallygirl, thats *really* interesting! I'm all for doing without gadgets where possible. Thats just like switching the oven off a few minutes before you're going to take something out, isn't it.... thanks for the tip.

That's interesting about cooking pasta without boiling it - might try that! The gadget thing is quite simple though, it's just a canister with a straining lid on it (quite handy) and an insulation jacket which does actually work - the temp behind it is much higher than the bits not covered, and you get 2 of them for £3 so I don't feel ripped off. Didn't see them in another Works I visited but if you find one let me know as I'd get one for sis-in-law's Christmas.

It does sound good, doesn't it... and as I said when you mentioned it, its not exactly hi-tech/electronic - for me, its more a decluttering issue. Having invited the pasta maker into my home, I want to avoid letting anything else follow it in unless its absolutely essential!

When OH and I used to go walking in remote areas we used to put pasta in a jar with a screw-top lid and cold water and carry it with us all day. By evening it would be perfectly 'cooked' with no energy input other than the motion of being carried.

If you wanted to try pandapaws' method, an ordinary thermos would work just as well, except for not having the strainer attachment.

Oh, good idea Seaxwyn, that would probably be even better than the machine! Must find that old flask - I know it's somewhere...

Wow! I have plenty of big plastic storage jars (one of my former addictions was M&S roasted peanuts, and the jars were of such quality I could never bear to throw them away) - I wonder if that would work in the motion of a car? Mind you, I've just got the pasta maker so I don't use wheat pasta! And since the HM variety has egg in, I'm doubtful about doing it that way.... but wheat pasta once in a blue moon wouldn't hurt. This is fascinating! Walking/shaking supplies kinetic energy... I'm no physicist, but I know that much.... WTG! WTG! (ooh, that reminds me to get some free bingo on in the background, I only got 10p on my scratchcard today).

Of course, it could be that certain people aren't getting up early enough to check online stuff before they go to work... ;):o

Pasta thing is interesting - one of my workmates was talking about a gadget they've got for cooking rice where you just put hot water in and leave it, other workmate didn't believe it would cook without being on the hob.. not sure what they think 'cooking' consists of exactly. I'm quite lucky that my energy bills are included in my rent so don't have to worry about that too much, although I do try to take care from an environmental point of view.

Have a good day Karma, and GL with the bingo! :T
