Karmacat: I'm passionate about my DFW journey to riches

Red, its Lille! It looked good when I passed through earlier this year on one of the last Tesco Clubcard Eurostar tickets! We want details, remember.
Bob - it was good, actually. Like any new type of shop, it took much longer than is "profitable", but hopefully more will come my way, and it'll get better. I only got it because no one wanted me either and I applied to a new mystery shopping organisationjust heard that my report passed their standards, and I'm on the books now, so I'll go check it out. Its funny, breaking out of what you've already been doing, even tho you think you've been doing a lot. Very odd. But you've got your kids too, at a busy time of year for teenage offspring, its got to be difficult.

Quieter day in store today - yesterday was a bit tough, planned engineering works bollixed my day, and it turns out I was a bit underprepared for the seminar - I thought I was just giving a report on a not-very-good seminar, but they expected a high-powered psychoanalytic analysis. Oops. They're always nice tho.
My journey got a huge lift at the end. The driver on the Rail Replacement bus I got on was the kindest soul I've ever met. While we were parked, he kept up a running commentary about safety, and then went on to prattle about shaking hands with the stranger sitting next to us. Then as we approached my town, he offered to make a stop at the suburban rail station nearest to me. No one took him up so, nothing ventured nothing gained, I asked him if he could stop at the National Express stop local to me - and he did! He saved me a £1.80 bus fare, and much more importantly another hour, possibly more, to get home, on a cold, rainy night - I had a proper evening thanks to him, I was so touched I can't tell you.
I know its little, but life is hard sometimes, and I thnk the good things should be celebrated!
Today, I'm just going to be checking out what's on here for a while, a few other websites, generally catch up. Nothing too strenuous because I'm out this evening, tho I might do a severe level of tidying in the kitchen and the 2nd bedroom. And I have to have a wander around my niece's glitzy website that opened up yesterday!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
How nice of the bus driver. I quite agree, these small kindnesses really touch your heart.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Thanks guys!
I've just done my first Christmas shopping! Didn't get the biggest discount in the world, but I was on one of the shopping threads on here, and there's big discounts at M&S, so I got £45 worth of books from M&S delivered free of charge, for £15, with 5% quidco - not sure what its 5% OF, but hey, its all good. A 66% reduction really isn't to be sneezed at.
EDIT: ha! this is what you get on a lazy day - my brother *finally* recognised me as a friend on facebook! I think he goes on it about once a year, to look at the profiles his sons have put up. :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Aww, that's really nice of the bus driver
Great bargain from M&S there too - have got as far as thinking about Christmas presents but that's it so far!
Hope you enjoy your relaxed day.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I know, I was shocked myself that I actually did it, but the two thirds off thing is described as a glitch on here, and who knows how long glitches last?
I've done my phone call to my mum, and have just been watching Its Not Easy Being Green - odd that I've never seen it before, probably too engrossed in fluff cos my job is hard work enough. Its quite fun tho (the programme, I mean!)
Going to do bits and pieces on here now... printing mystery shop notes for tomorrow, notes of finance events next week, that sort of backup thing.
And I'm looking for a pattern for a baby's cardi, to knit this winter for my great-nephew-to-be - if anybody's got any good ideas for sites, or has a nice (modern! have you *seen* what's out there!!!) let me know!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Bother. I was just applying for an L&G ISA to get the cashback, and the form asked me for my client number if I have one. And I do! My endowment mortgage is with them
so I've sent a query to Quidco asking if I'd still get the cashback if I opened the account.
In the meantime, I'll open a Tesco savings account - 6.5% if you leave the dosh in for a year (5% otherwise) and 500 points if its £1000 on 30th November - which is £20 in deals, thats worth doing.
EDIT: aargh.... and the Tesco thing is linked to your clubcard, and I'm in the middle of applying for a clubcard plus, I don't want to do two things at once, it might confuse the poor dears. Right, backtrack to Clubcard Plus (it'd be open by now, except I forgot to sign the direct debit mandate. Maybe I'm the one who's confused).2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Afternoon! My mum gets some knitting patterns off here - http://www.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/patternIndex.fcgi?pageLength=15&d=Infants&s=Knit - there's some free ones to download (who'd have thought, knitting goes hi-tech
). I've picked up my knitting again today - a VERY simple scarf, it's a start!
Fingers crossed re the L&G thing, I think I've read of a similar situation before and it was ok re cashback.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
