I've had the afternoon at the computer, typing up columns of words but using Excel - re-doing some notes I was given, for a workshop I paid out for. I'm presenting a report to colleagues (for which I'm not being paid, of course) - and I'd be ashamed to give out a copy of what I was given, it was appallingly presented.

Interested to realise that I now understand the stuff better! Its always the way, I know. I'm well on the way to getting it all ready - this is part of my new resolve, to get ready for things *before* the last moment - and it seems to be working this time.

Interesting with the trading this afternoon - I had yet morecharts to alter, so no chance to even think about it, but when I stepped back and had a look,my signals showed a clear trade that would have given a net profit of 170 points, in 15 minutes. Or, at £10 a point (she said wistfully) £1,700. Ah well.

Offnow for a walk round the block. Doing the trading has felt unexpectedly close today, it will come.

Well, trading - after such a mad night, no way was I even going to try. And for all the news is saying the ftse has dropped 2.5%, that happened overnight - the move since 8am has actually been up, by 150 points. I haven't dared to try anything.

What I've been doing is setting it up, but then going through my emails, checking for mystery shops, focus groups, all the fiddly stuff. Got to put the rubbish out now, and then I'll be looking for a matched bet.

Right, done a euro matched bet, but oops, I overlaid, commission has been reduced at that exchange. Well, it was 97 cents - I'm going to survive that! I only need one more bet there, of about E20, then I can withdraw, and on to the next. Mind you, I chose them cos they have regular reloads, so I might just keep it in there, saves re-depositing charges. Got to think about that now....

EDIT: just a note to remind myself: I popped over to the Boost Your Income Board just now, and two really helpful tips:
    - ebid.net - just won a prize as the best alternative to ebay, I had a look and there's over 250 listings for SF magazines, as opposed to 3 or 4 for preloved.
    - knitting dolls clothes and selling them (on ebay, ebid etc).I *like* knitting - never know what to knit tho! Aha!

Yes, choose your moments. You don't want to be pecked to death by black swans.

This is one of the reasons I was so keep on you using stop-losses a little while back.

:o This actually sounds kind of romantic - in a masochistic, the-world-is-not enough kind of way :o I think I'll save that for the world-famous novel I'm going to write...

I'm a bad, bad, evil person not to use stop losses, I know. But you know, Z, in the current craziness, only a guaranteed stoploss would be any good. In the first part of the big fall yesterday, at 6.30, the Dow Jones fell 240 points, and then the 6.45 section of the chart shows that it gapped down from 10,670 to 10,480, another 190 points, before going *up* 340 points and down another 180 points. All figures rounded, I was getting dizzy writing it! I think the only solution for days like that for an amateur trader is not to take part. I felt good, tho, because as I say my system gave good indicators, even if I didn't take them up.

:rotfl: Vernons have finally verified that I'm over 18, so I've withdrawn £1.88 profit. Still have £15 to play with, bit tired now so I'll do some of that again tomorrow. I've decided I love Vernons :rotfl:

I was probably being a bit obscure.

I know. But a non-guaranteed one might get you out of the game with more skin intact. Computers get in faster than people when you fall down a ladder of "no-bid".

Right now, it is most sensible to keep out. Don't want to be on the wrong side of a six sigma event. Which contrary to the maths, occur quite often - especially in panics.
