- paperwork. I need to get my accounts done! They're cluttering up the table at the moment, and I really need to get them done - if I don't, like I was really late last year, that impacts on when I can start doing Christmas cards, and means that I don't pamper myself at Christmas so much.
I love this logic, great thinkingDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Me too - the tax return is really bugging me at the moment, I really need to get it sorted (even started would be good!). Although I haven't received one in the post - do I still need to do one? Suppose I must as I'm still technically self-employed part time. Sorry, I'm thinking out loud on your thread here!
Have a nice/productive day!0 -
Thinking aloud leads to ... pampering! Or solvency, that would be nice too.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

At least you know where stuff is for accountants..when Mr.B was self employed i reckon he lost out on what he could claim, because he was so disorganised..he used the carrier bag all over the place and the glove compartment method..in case i saw what he spent...ah well at least the tax is all sorted now, but it was very knuckle biting last year and i reckon the aftermath will go on for a while longer..so i suppose my long rambling thoughts are get sorted ASAP, at least you will know where you stand and can prepare for any nasties...Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Its true, I have that much. When I first started out in self employment tho,I made some disastrous accountant choices - one guy was a front for a bookkeeping firm, not an accountant at all, and the other was legit, but never did the work and still took the money. It was only when he died and his business was taken over by proper accountants that I got on an even footing -and by then the IR were taking me to court for non production of accounts. It was horrible - so lots of hugs to you if you're going through bad stuff with the accounts.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

It is all sorted now, but he was ripped off with the accountants..they never did a bean except the online forms..the aftermath was the problem as he was on emergency code tax for about 5 months as their HR dept didn't sort it out then another accountants bill and his final payment from self employed last year..the rest of the aftermath is the credit cards he used to keep himself afloat as well as household stuff i suppose..it just annoys me what a good position we were in and now i feel like we have gone back 20 years..if that makes sense. I feel for you as well, i think that would have been the straw that broke the camels back for me...glad you came out of it ok...just goes to show what a difference a decent accountant can make.((hugs))XBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Thanks Bob... its long behind me now, fortunately.... tho I do feel that because of my *own* bad choices with the French investment (and the gradual downturn in my sort of therapy) I'm back 20 years also. Still, hopefully we can come back from it. And you're zzzz-ing by now, on that lovely new bed anyway! Enjoy

Hmmm, well, I tried to do some m.b.ing today, couldnt find any matches - wrong time of the week,I think. Annoying tho.
Went onto Vernons, intending to beg for my money back, played 3 games of DOND and won 43p! Have now won and withdrawn £2.31, which I think is hysterical. :rotfl:
Did half an hour's gardening - clipped at what grass there is, cut back a few shrubs - now the garden is lighter, I intend to deffo grow some veg next year, following Bob's example - if green beans are young enough, I do like them.
I've got the details of what I need to do to withdrawn the money from my original spreadbetting account too - the state of interest rates these days, I'm losing a pound a week in not having it out of there - and the state my finances are in, I'll need it for France or for my tax bill at the end of January.
Trying to activate the dratted Tesco Personal Finance thingy so I can use my Clubcard Plus - its incredibly difficult, bloke on the other end of the phone wiped everything out and decided to start again, great. And is going to send me a signature verification card, which I've never even had before. I'll use Tesco cos the points can be profitable, but I hate them, I really do. And I hate telephone banking, give me an online account any day. Or a face to face person. It took aaaggggeeessssssssss.
The gardening was much nicer, except I walked into the web of one of those wolf spiders. Oops. Cue much threshing about to make sure it wasn't in my hair. Poor thing.
Must try to open the L&G ISA tonight, that would be one job done. The money "invested" will still be shrinking of course - but if the cashback doesn't more than cover that, that will be the least of my worries!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I have one of those spiders on my shed..it has a web between there and the gate post..DD2 shrieks everytime she goes past..it looks very comfy though.:rotfl:
I can recommend bean growing, very addictive lol:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Ahh the Tesco dilemma - I hate them too, and if there was a cheaper option near me I probably wouldn't use them, but there isn't - and the Clubcard points are kind of worth it. Hope that the long phone call turns out to be productive!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
