Right, a new day dawns. What do I do with it? I think its a completely free day today, so:
    - open NatWest spreadbet account. :j done.
    - check my moneybookers account is still open - I think I'll just try to log in to it - and then  :p
    - PHONE MY FRENCH BANK AND FIND OUT HOW TO ADD MONEYBOOKERS AS A PAYEE SO I CAN TRANSFER MONEY TO (AND FROM!!!!!) THE TWO OF THEM. :oPhoned Moneybookers. Same info - French sort codes only have 5 figures? And the French bank are now at lunch. For one and a half hours.
    - contact my water supplier about going on a meter - my water bill is double what a lot of people on here pay. slight  here
    - probably take lunchtime off and go into town - bank, Tesco, freebie vouchers from the freebies board, costs the busfare but I have to live, after all. Ooh, and I can buy *lots* of Waitrose pesto with my JL voucher from pigsback! :rotfl: tbh I can't be bothered! :o
    - and I'm being a very good dfw today: Stargate Continuum comes out on dvd today, and I'm not buying it. I'm waiting to see it till its on sky, on August 12th. The agony! I know what happens to Daniel (thats all I'm going to say) and I WANT TO SEE IT!!!. :heartpuls :grouphug: I might have to put The Ark of Truth on the DVD at lunchtime.

PS - write to Greasy Palm, I think in writing, about the non payment of the money I was finally supposed to get in July. Partly my fault, so some grovelling to do. not necessary, they've scheduled my payment for their next run. Thanks!!!
PPS - yougov are back online, so do that big survey. done, but no space to say "I wouldn't trust any bank ever..."

So Karma - with the Nat West offer do you have to trade with your own money or can you just do it with the free money? If the latter I might give it a go. Not going to play with my own money though!! That warning was good enough for me!!;)

My warning was pretty stern, hey? LOL sorry about that! But I'm terrified that somebody already in debt who reads what I write might decide to plunge on in....

The T&C on the NatWest site say you have to fund the account with min. £200, and then they'll add the £100 to it. Then they say:

"the complementary £100 is intended to be used for trading with NW Index and accordingly at least one trade must be executed following the deposit of the £100 before any of these monies can be withdrawn".

So, you could go into it and lose half and still come out with £50. But if you placed the bet on the ftse, and you happened to do it when there was news coming out (*big* news this week at 3pm today, 1.15pm tomorrow and 7am and 1.30pm Thur, plus lots on Friday, as well as more minor news points) -if you happened to put a bet on at those times, believe me, it could move 50 points in a minute. You'd be really unlucky, but it might happen. Even so, you could still make money -you'd be *catastrophically* unlucky to have a trade go against you by more than 100 points. Best thing to do is what I said in the other post, open a virtual account, see what you think - you've got till the end of August, probably, to decide about the NatWest offer itself.

Good on yer, cobber! (oops, sorry, don't know where that came from - just relief, I think). :o:p

Moneybookers - I want to upload French euros to French moneybookers. How easy do you think that is, from England and an English account. Answer: not very. I have to ring my bank to do it, their pathetic online format can't make payments. And I *hate* ringing my French bank.

And thats *all* I've been doing since I last posted!

Got to give greasy palm a pat on the back. I didn't input my bank details - at all! - so my July payment didn't happen, they literally had nowhere to send it. I've now input my details, I sent a query, and they've rescheduled for August like lambs. V pleased! At least I've got £33 set up for the August challenge.

The only one I haven't touched is the water account thing.

I finally spoke to a guy from my French bank! I can't do what I want online, but they'll accept a scan of a letter from me to do it themselves, and set it up online so I can do it myself in future! How weird is that?

And Natwest have just emailed me saying I must have done "either more than 10 margined transactions or more than 20 share trades in the last 12 months". Thats also weird.

So I'm going to ring NatWest, have a celebratory munch on something, and then go do something in a shady part of the garden. I'll do the scanned letter a bit later on (uh, when I'm dvd-ing an episode of Stargate. What do you mean, I'm obsessed?).

Had 2 long conversations with NatWest, have convinced them that I do know what I'm doing, and that my degree/diplomas have numeric components. Offered to send an attachment by email of my trading plan. And now their system is acting up and won't accept anyone's debit card.... jeez, this is difficult! I will have earned this £100, if I ever get it.

KC, it's all completely over my head, but it sounds like you are making some progress! :)

Good luck with getting the £100, you are certainly having to put the effort in for this one.
