So true El... I did a little bit last night, and its taken me *hours* today, on and off. I am full of admiration for people who do the dfw route who work full time hours. I have to confess, cos my rate of pay per hour is pretty high, I have a lot of time to do dfw things :o

    Glad to help :D

Here's another goody: I hopped over to the matched betting board to start re-familiarising myself with everything, and think about what bookies to do when the footie season opens again. And there it was in black and white: a free £100 for opening a spreadbetting account with NatWest, with software courtesy of cmc. Now, cmc are my spreadbet company (I wish  :rotfl: ) and I know their software like the back of my hand. And if I can't make the trading work with a free £100, then I don't deserve to be doing it, simple as that! I've rung both cmc and NatWest, and its absolutely fine to have both accounts and be described as a new user to be credited with the £100!

    Result!

    Hi Gemmzie

Spreadbetting.... you buy "it" if you think its going to go up in value. You sell "it" if you think its going to go down in value. Thats the principle, its the practicalities of how to do it, **when** to do it and what to do it with, that are so problematic. Ninety per cent of all spread bettors lose money. Often a lot of money, those risk warnings aren't there cos the spreadbet firms are nice people, they're there because people get caught up in dreams and just go crazy.

    They start like this:

      :p :j :j :D   :EasterBun :easter_ba :easter_ba :EasterBun   :D :j :j :p

    and end like this:

    _pale_

If you're interested, open a virtual account. Or *maybe* do the NatWest thing purely for the cashback, if it works out.

Virtual accounts don't seem to operate as well as real accounts, but it'll give you some idea. Don't, under any circumstances whatsoever, open a real account for actual spreadbetting till you've done years of research and practice. Actually the warnings say don't spreadbet with any money that you can't afford to lose, and they're right.

Have I been stern enough???? I need to write about the trading, cos obviously in spite of the way it triggers fears based on my ancient history, I think its for me, but I'm terrified someone will sail into it because of me, and lose money.

I got you, like stocks? The natwest offer was done before I think or something very similar, £100 which was fairly risk free, think hypno did it .

Yep - stocks, commodities, foreign exchange, even oil futures - deciding what to bet on is quite an issue - I use the Ftse, the Dow and £/$. And I seem to remember hypno and pania doing that, you're right - I'm not sure they even had to make a trade, just let their own money sit there and get a bonus after so many months. With this one, you have to do a trade.

Sorry about the length of time between my posts, I'm seeing clients. Got a phone one now, so will have to close down (my adsl filters are shot).....

    see you tomorrow. Take care.
