Bother! First the yougov survey greyed out, then I got screened out of a lightspeed one, and then the lightspeed one I was eligible for encountered an internal error!

Ah well.... have just managed to clear some garden waste away - had to do it first thing because my neighbour acts on a casual agreement from years ago and nicks space in my rubbish bin. They had a party yesterday (v civilised, no problem) and will have loads of rubbish, but *I* need my bin at the mo, all this garden rubbish to get rid of. So I've used all my bin!

Off again now, to take "after" pix of the work I've been doing in the garden, to convince my beloved American cousin that actually I'm not yet turned into a minimalist gardener - it still looks like a wilderness, its just that now there are *paths* through the wilderness!

Morning KC, I thought of you today because I *am* going to get out into the garden......if I could just stop posting/reading here :o

Thanks for the reminders on the Nectar holiday - I'm clicking away too...

On your bin thingy, don't you have a green bin for garden waste? their party waste won't qualify for that. I put the wrong bin out this week, so I've got to watch what I'm getting rid of for the next fortnight. :o

El - sorry the surveys don't like you. I've had a couple of £10 from lightspeed, and on yougov I'm up to £34 or so - but I'm certainly getting a lot of problems at the mo.

Olive - fame at last! Gardens and a few easy comps, thats me. Its also me that I can very easily spend half an hour clicking about between the diaries, doing absolutely nothing. But thats just like having a conversation really! I described it to my mum in my regular phone call to her, and she loved the sound of it. I might yet get her to buy a laptop, even if she is 82!

Garden waste - no, we don't have a green bin, I wish we did. I could pay to have a one off collection, but I won't :o I'd still be having to chop it up to ensure as much as poss fitted in, tho not *quite* so small, I must say. Needs must.

Mizmir - I think the number of unused carrots in this country must be approaching epidemic proportions! And yours are babies! They're expensive, yanno!

I'm off to make another cup of coffee, and I swear while I am I'll peel some carrots.

I know - I am a neglecter of babies ! They were BOGOF and of course two packets too many to finish - so now they have that slightly dry look (though not wizened) - think they'll still be edible? Might give it a go ... if I don't come back it might be because the baby carrot have had their revenge!

:eek: But any idea why carrots might have a Use by date as opposed to a Best Before?? I thought it was only meat, dairy and stuff that would kill you if off that had use bys. Carrots might taste a bit woody but surely they are edible - at least until they are slimy!

new plan - carrot and ginger soup. Don't have any fresh coriander and the ginger might just counteract any adverse digestive reaction the carrots are plotting.... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

They have a "Use by" date? Eep! I think veggies *can* harbour the bacteria that cause problems, but not until they get slimy, as you say... mine have been sitting there for ages, and I'm still going to use them. Didn't this afternoon - I have to confess, I had a snooze, I was wandering about the house like a zombie. I've just checked them tho, and its a definitely a "best by" date - which they're miles away from, on the wrong side, obviously.

I mentioned this on hypno's thread, but I have to record it on mine: my neighbour is cutting down his leylandii! I'm so chuffed. He didn't plant them, but they've grown and grown, and they overlap the boundary between us by a good twelve feet at worst. Or they *did*. He's up there now on my grassy bit sawing up big branches.

It means that I can cut back shrubs - forsythia etc - to a radius of about five feet (still plenty!) and it won't look weird, and it will have an effect! I suddenly have all this land available to me! Have to keep going on it this time, tho, make sure I don't let it get overgrown again. In fact, I'm just going offsite to boast, on myfolia.com.
