I’m trying to be more positive and not so doom and gloom as I’ve been feeling a bit teary and fed up.
In today’s positive news, puppy has managed to ‘go’ outside instead of going outside then coming in and promptly having a wee/poo. I’ve been doing 10 mins at learning to sit (puppy not me, though I am very good at it even if I do say so myself!). She’s very quick and thinks just plonking her bum down deserves a treat. She hasn’t associated the word with the action, though it is very early days. OH and I took them up the lane, as she was so good I took (all 4) them out on my own. Glad we didn’t meet any cars as I haven’t got enough hands to hold them all. I’ll need to get her on the lead at some point.
Making a triple batch of cottage pie for tea, then I can freeze some to take down.
DS2 is heading offshore today for 4 weeks. DD2s first day back after lambing went ok.

There's a lot going on, no wonder you feel a bit unsettled. Well done for trying to adopt a positive attitude 🥂
You'll feel better when you know what's going on with work I'm sure, it's hard to look ahead when you know it isn't an accurate forecast. And if NN doesn't get permission we'll all be raising a glass with you!

OH has confirmed that NN is back up and staying in his holiday home. I’ll just try and keep out of his way. Didn’t make enough mashed spud for all the cottage pies. I’ll finish them off tomorrow.

Finally we have some sun. Washing is out on the line. The forecast looks ok for this week, a shame as we are heading off the island to see the new addition to the family.
Met a friend for coffee and cake, had a really good catch up. They’ve recently moved into a house they’ve built and we were discussing the air source heat pump they’d installed and how much the running costs were. Then we got onto council tax and she dropped this nugget of info into the conversation, she said they were being charged a waste water fee and didn’t understand why as they’ve got a septic tank. They’d phoned the council and once it’s confirmed by Scottish water they’ll get some money back and the council tax rate amended. Once I got home I scurried off to look at our bill and we are also being charged for this. A phone call and email later and once it’s confirmed we should get some money back from when we moved in in 2023. Prior to that it was a business and I’ve checked those invoices and we haven’t been charged. A small win but I’ll take it.
Friends called round for drinks on Saturday night, that was nice to catch up with them. Made a lot of lasagnes, 2 lemon drizzle cakes and just baking some ginger cake and I think I’m about finished on the cooking front.

Made mince and dumplings for tea. The dumplings were vile, rose beautifully but tasted rank. Checked the date on the suet and it expired in 2016! Added it to the shopping list.
