House number envy

Is there some collective inability to read previous posts in this thread, given the number of times duplicate information had been posted?
Anyway, the best number to live at is clearly 42 (the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything), I lived at that number in the 1980s but never managed to get another one since.0 -
Number 8 is supposed to be very auspicious from a feng shui point of view.
I've lived at 158, 11, 44 (which was the top floor of a tower block), 17 and now 246.
The first three were east London council flats and the last two were houses.
Seventeen should have been lucky as 1+7=8 but it was at the top of a T junction which was a bit of a poison arrow. I loved that house, though and was sorry to leave it when we moved out of London in 2001."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
There are only five buildings on my road. Three flats next to my house which are 1,2,3 then four houses which are 5 (me), 7, 9, 11 and 11a as the last house has been converted to two flats. A little bit of woodland on the other side of the road so 2 is the only even number.0

The houses on my side of the road go 1 and 3, 5 to 9, 11, 31-39 and the other side goes 2,20, 22 and that's it. Redevelopment by the Luftwaffe in the 1940s.
I grew up at 11 and apart from short-term student digs have lived at 12, 15 and now 3. M'wife grew up at 1, and lived in a flat at 13A before we bought together. No plan to it at all though....
A high number can also imply living on a major arterial route but some way out of town - a schoolmate of mine lived at 728 which was actually a nice 5/6 bedroom detached Edwardian villa. Depends on the town though - 900 ish East Rochester Way exist but right next to a major dual carriageway (the A2).I need to think of something new here...0 -

Yes, my uncle and his family lived at 546 Eastern Avenue which is on the A12.
My current 246 is on a long road that changes name as it meanders through a couple of villages."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
This is making me think of Jack and Vera's grimy 2-up, 2-down mid-terrace in Coronation Street, named "The Old Rectory".
I was really impressed when I lived in Warsaw and was loaned a city street map, on which the building numbers on roads were noted , so on a long street you knew which end to aim for. Never seen this detail on a UK map. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -

Can't stand upside down houses  My Brentwood townhouse did have its lounge upstairs, but there were reception rooms downstairs too.My friend lives in a road with 2 houses, and her's is No 3.
What happened to the missing house?!Out,_Vile_Jelly wrote: »I was really impressed when I lived in Warsaw and was loaned a city street map, on which the building numbers on roads were noted , so on a long street you knew which end to aim for. I'm not keen on high numbered houses.
I've never been keen on 13 either. There isn't one in our street. I wouldn't have wanted 14 either since it should have been 13 (they're numbered consecutively).
We toyed with the idea of looking at a house numbered 13, but fortunately somebody else bought it whilst we were still thinking about it.
However we've just bought 26, which is 13x2 so is that double trouble? Trying not to think about it.
We'll be giving it a name. And yes, we're the sort who have personalised number plates........ Oh dear.Make £2025 in 2025
