low numbers sing commercial or problem parking at the end of the road

We don't have a road name, let alone a number.
Our full official Royal Mail address is housename, village, next village, county, postcode.

We only got road names about 15 years ago in our village. If you put my name, house name and postcode on a letter then it would still be delivered. In fact I suspect it would get here with just name and postcode too.

    Best address ever:
    1 & 1/2 Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate in York

Throughout all my time of owning houses, renting houses, being a lodger, living in student digs, living with my parents and being born in a house; I have only ever lived in odd numbered ones. No superstition, just coincidence. I only worked it out a couple of Christmases ago when my mother mentioned that throughout her life, she had only ever lived in odd numbered houses.

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.

Moving from one with just a name to a numbered one.
Makes a big difference when the emergency services are trying to find you, believe me!

Traditionally, numbers started from the town centre, ie No 1 was nearer to town so more desirable.

It's true about the emergency services, I've spent hours leaning out of fire engine window trying to spot house names using a torch. The ones that were really burning were easier though.

A little bit of snob in me agrees lol. I was always disappointed when I viewed houses with more than 2 numbers. I even lived at one
I'm a bit weird in that I love a 3 in my number somewhere, or it has to be divisible by 3 or somehow make a 3 (like 14 where you can take the 1 from the 4). Seriously coincidental that half of mine have actually the number 3!

    I have bought at:

    35
    13
    3 (yay!)
    207 (the shame ;))
    62
    18
    14
    32

    ha,yep, I see your shame.but onlyyou knew.
