Halifax switch offer up to £125

I'm asking this question on the premise that there is no such thing as a stupid question (however, it may come close to it).
Is there a £125 incentive for upgrading my Halifax Basic (EasyCash) account which I've had since 2010/11 to a Reward Current Account?
If not, I may as well use that basic current account as the Donor account to switch from, right? e.g. Switch form Halifax Basic (EasyCash) Current account to FirstDirect.
I currently have a switch going through with FirstDirect. I first put the coventry b/s MoneyManger account to switch from, however, later discovered that coventry isn't part of the switching scheme. SO, FD are asking for another account to switch from.0 -
Just been chatting with halifax. To qualify for the £125 incentive, I need to upgrade the Easycash account to a Reward Current Account or the Ultimate Reward Current Account then switch from another bank (except from the non-qualifying banks - Halifax partner and other banks not part of the switching scheme) OR close the easycash account and apply for the Reward Current Account or the Ultimate Reward Current Account direct (without going through upgrade).0

I've had a switch to Halifax declined by Tesco - can't find my Tesco account debit card so selected no debit card option when initiating the switch. Tesco have declined the switch due to the 'debit card number being incorrect' (Halifax's words).
I have (now) reported the card lost to Tesco, so that card has been deactivated, I guess I could try again. Anyone else done this?0 -

There have been previous posts about switches successfully going through by selecting the no debit card option. However, I believe that the actual rules are that if the donor a/c comes with a debit card then the details should be entered when initiating the switch. If you have lost/misplaced the card then you really need to get a replacement before commencing a switch.
In your case Tesco are probably within their rights to decline the switch and Halifax aren't at fault. Presumably Tesco will be replacing your card and you'd need to get that before being able to issue new switch instructions. All a bit late to satisfy the conditions for the Halifax Reward no doubt.0 -

I would not argue that they incorrectly declined the switch, when checking the 'no debit card' box on the Halifax website it does say only to use that if the card is reported lost or stolen, which it now has. Just wondered if anyone else had tried to initiate a switch in a similar situation. It's my own fault, I should have reported it lost before now (it's definitely somewhere in the house but blowed if I can find it). If I do have to wait for the new card then yes, this ship will definitely have sailed.0 -
OH and I intend to open two sole Halifax Reward current accounts today and switch our two respective Nationwide current accounts into them to qualify for 2x £125 switching bonuses. Regarding the requested switching date, is it advisable to chose the earliest possible date or doesn't it matter? i.e. Will we still qualify for the £125 bonuses if we request a switching date of 3 weeks from now or are we best sticking to the earliest date option provided?0

The switch date is not important. You need to apply for the switch by 11:59 p.m. on Monday 19th March, but the switch does not have to complete at any set time.0 -

Best of luck.
If your applications sail through then you'll get the chance to give the switch instructions at the end.
On the other hand, you may get a message to say they'll make a decision within 3 days and email an update. I had this and was unable to give the switch instructions until the a/c was opened. I applied on Friday 9th March and the account actually got opened on Monday 12th so only 1 working day later. Instructions could then be given for switch to complete Tuesday 20th. £125 arrived yesterday.0 -

Fortunately both of our applications have just completed successfully, along with the switching instructions, and our two new Reward accounts are showing in our Online Banking already. Such a relief after the debacle with NatWest!0 -

Well done. If you elected the earliest date to commence the switch then the incentives should reach you by this coming Friday.0
