Shame I received this award a couple of years ago; would've nice to get another £125 alongside NatWest!
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.
  • Presume they will allow Tesco savings accounts to count as DD's ??
Over £2K made from bank switches and P2P incentives since 2016

When does the natwest £125 hit the account? Then I'm straight in here :-)

You don't need any DDs for the switch bonus, only if you want the ongoing £3 reward per month. Tesco savings would count, but only for as long as Tesco continues to allow funding by DD (which is being ended in April).

Natwest terms say by 13th April, see here: https://beta.natwest.com/personal/current-accounts/switcher-offer.html

The Halifax £125 offer ends 19th March, though it does tend to come around from time to time. The standard amount of £75 is an ongoing offer.

Halifax accept switches into existing accounts opened before 3rd December 2016, so an account opened pre-2012 would be fine.

What would stop you getting the incentive would be if you have received a switching incentive (of any value) from Halifax in January 2012 or later. If you haven't then you can get this offer.

I already have 3 reward accounts opened before 2012 will they allow me another?
or should I close 1 and then apply?

No. The limit is now one plus one joint, so anyone closing one of their three (or two for those that have two) sole accounts will lose an account that they won't be able to get back.

You can switch into one of your existing accounts. If you've already had an incentive then you can't get another, closing accounts and reapplying would not change this.
  • Interesting, could I just open a new current account with any random bank deposit a tenner in cash, and then just immediately move that to Halifax and empty the account? Otherwise how long would I have to stay before I could switch back?
