Apologise if my question frustrates anyone who has prior answered however Im not quite clear About my own scenario.
I opened a. Halifax account April 2013 . It was not a switch , it was a reward account new opening and I get 3 pound a month now.
I have a m and s bank account I pretty sure I can switch to Halifax.
Reading the threads I can get the 125 switching fee but am I switching it to my current reward account or opening a new Halifax account ?
Guessing I cannot get the 3 pound reward twice on two separate accounts ?
 Thank you
Yes you can switch into an existing account, as long as you go via the switching team, and you haven't have the incentive since January 2012.

Hi all. I currently bank with HSBC after switching last year - the one year anniversary will be March 23rd. To receive another £50 from HSBC (for staying with them a year) I'll need my account open until this date at least. As the current Halifax switch incentive ends on March 19th,would I likely still get this £50 from HSBC if I've initiated a switch on 19th March, but not actually completing the move until after 23rd March, i.e., so my account with them is technically open a year? Thanks.0

            It's tight but technically possible!
Apply for Halifax account 19th (last day)
They initiate switch and close HSBC seven days later ie 26th
You COULD ask Halifax to not switch until (say) 10 or 14 days rather than 7 to give you more time but you need to check that this will still get you your Halifax bonus0

The terms of the offer state "The offer applies to applications received in branch, online (Ultimate Reward Current Account and Reward Current Account only) or by phone from the 6th February 2018 to the 19th of March 2018".
I thought it a bit ambiguous whether by "applications" they meant applying for the account or applying to switch (which could be done at different times). As they also refer to switching into an existing a/c then presumably the time restraint is for the switching instructions rather than a/c opening.
This is also bourne out by MSE stating "To get the £125, you need to initiate a switch by 11.59pm on Mon 19 Mar".
I was evenually able to apply for a Halifax a/c yesterday (debit card from the donor Flexaccount finally arrived 3 weeks after new a/c application).
At the end of the Halifax application it said "We usually make a decision about account applications within three days – we’ll email you with an update on our progress" without allowing me to enter any switch instructions.
I had waited until the donor a/c debit card had been received before starting the Halifax application as I understood that I would give the switch instructions at the end. Hopefully I'll hear back from them in the next week and will then be able to issue switch instructions by 19th.
Consequently, depending on the outcome of the application, if you applied for a new a/c on 19th you may or may not get to give switch instructions on that day so may or may not qualify for the incentive.
It would probably be better to apply now for the Halifax a/c so that it is open and you can separately apply for the switch by 19th.0

The Halifax switch form gives the option to set a date up to 30 days in the future. So a switch could complete well into April, even for a switch initiated today, let alone on the 19th, meaning the HSBC £50 should be paid before the switch is initiated, let alone completed.0

Would it be easier to just open a new account and switch that? Halifax don't need DD's.Hi all. I currently bank with HSBC after switching last year - the one year anniversary will be March 23rd. As I posted earlier I went from No accounts > tesco Bank > Halifax Reward in 6 working days.
Earlier Post copied below:Very happy Halifax gave me £125 today, but whats REALLY impressive is I've gone from switching virgin to reward in 6 working days! :T:T:T
The timeline is:- Weds 14th Feb - Open new Tesco Current Account
- Sat 17th - Transfer a few quid into my new Tesco Current account, debit card arrives.
- Sun 18th - Open Halifax reward current account, start switch from Tesco to Halifax
- Mon 19th - Transfer a few quid into my Halifax
- Thurs 22nd - Halifax pay £125 incentive
- Weds 28th - Switch from Tesco to Halifax due to complete

It MAY have helped that I already had credit cards and hence online banking set up with Tesco and Halifax, but either way £125 reward in 6 days, without impacting my old bank account, is AMAZING!:j
 Well done Halifax :beer:0

Hello. Forgive me if this question has been answered already. I have opened a Halifax account and rec'd the bonus. I am not interested in the on going £3 per month incentive. Is there any thing to stop me now switching my Halifax account to another? (Do I run the risk of losing my £125 reward from switching to Halifax)? Many thanks for any help.

If they're giving themselves the option of clawing back the £125 if you leave (early) they'll have it covered in the incentive T&Cs like Nationwide do. Do you see such a clause in the Halifax incentive T&Cs?chriswright wrote: »Hello. Forgive me if this question has been answered already. I have opened a Halifax account and rec'd the bonus. The answer to your question is no. The terms of the offer do not specify any time period that you need to leave the account open.0
