Well I woke early today. I think I will keep one quilt and a sleeping bag from what got down from the loft. Don't know what DS slept with the other day as I forgot he'd taken his duvet with him. There are spare around. Same for pillows.
I recently brought down other quilt covers from the loft so will make up his bed with it. His room was freezing last night as he'd turned the radiator all the way off. I turned it to one so the room doesn't end up damp and so the radiator doesn't seize up like it did last year.
He has one of those weird window flaps that's missing that he's stuffed with tissue. I need to replace that with a new one.
The shed roof still has a piece of felt missing. DS was supposed to help with that but won't be back on time. May need to try and cajole Ex into doing it or pay someone. Ladders and me are a bad idea.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Brilliant news on the “find” under the bed - annoying when you know you have something, and you know it must be in the house, but you just can’t turn it up no matter how hard you look!I’m impressed that DS thought to turn the radiator off before he left - but yes, good plan to leave it on very low just to take the chill off.Have a lovely Sunday!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Morning savingholmes 'weird window flaps' - I'm intrigued now. Definitely good to keep the room warm, you might need to raise the temperature from time to time over the winter (or maybe leave the door open regularly). And yes don't turn it all the way off as the pin can get stuck down and not want to come back up when its needed. I'm the same with ladders, I'm sure someone would be able to do that for you - does it need covering with plastic in the meantime to stop any water getting in.
You are doing so well, I've got my huge list so need to get on and get it done."Think of many things, do one"

Another binge catch-up as we're rammed at work.
Great news on the mortgage, cake, no monsters under the bed and general sorting stuff out!

Thanks EH, Jwil, Sandy, Ohsh and Grogged
Jwil - getting things done in fits and starts. In the end I didn't get to the tip - however I did fit what I wanted into next door's bin so result!! I also decluttered couple of bags of Ex's stuff to MIL's - DD took it in for me.
Were you thinking of Horatio happening - Grogged - or just general monsters? The H character was one of DS's fave stories as a child and ours - as we could completely picture it with the detritus that seemed to gather under there... It appears I don't have much room to talk either though...
Sandy - the window flap is officially called a Trickle vent... We bought one (4 years ago!!!) in the wrong size and still haven't got one that actually fits... TBF DS was mostly away and when home always had the windows open. I should investigate though... His radiator valve broke last year for the exact reasons you describe so yes - keen for that not to happen as those valves add up...
Ohsh.... I was very grateful for the new cl1n1que. Nearly at the bottom of a pot that was about £30.
Well had a nice time with DS. May have snuck in apple pie for 2 and mcflurri*s. Then had the veggie curry with a side of more veg for tea. We did a bit of colouring together and chatted.

Decided to get a plug in uplighter for the landing that way it shouldn't be an issue even if the main light bulbs blow - as I can save the task of replacing light bulbs for when other people are around. Much cheaper than replacing 4 sets of lights (2 downstairs and 2 up). Probably cheaper to run too. I already have one downstairs. It should help with giving the impression that more people are in and about too.
DD has spent time with her richer, older cousin and other relatives today. A couple of weeks ago she was talking about getting a £2K car - today it was £8K. So I introduced her to the MSE credit club so she could see for herself that her current chance of getting any kind of credit is 10% even though she has a good score. I've advised her to get on the electoral roll - I think I have a form in the living room that should help with that (have to find it first). I also said she should take over her own phone contract as that would contribute positively to her credit rating. (It will also help out Ex but shush). She didn't understand about interest rates and loans at all. She thought that the £100 pcm type thing was a bit like paying for her gym and couldn't understand why they wouldn't just give her the £. Frightening.
She couldn't see why she should save first if she could get a loan. So I tried to explain about interest rates and how much more it will cost her long term if she borrows the £ instead of paying up front. I also told her you might not pass the test to get your own place if your car costs are too high. I explained that the interest rates she would be offered would be much higher than what we would pay. She could be in the realm of some of DS's interest rates 20-40% rather than the low rates me and Ex get. This blew her mind.
This invited the classic - well you or Dad will have to go on the loan with me. I pointed out that wouldn't be possible as I was facing an increase in mortgage payment of £800 above what we were paying jointly on IO before. Will see as the week progresses whether it 'stuck'. I said she should be saving £500pcm of what she earns towards a car and only buy it after she passes. 'Why?' she asked... She wants her car sat ready to go. I gave up... I suppose we all had to learn at some point - and given our credit card debt in the past - she would be hard pushed to do worse than us.

Ah yes, those - didn't know you could buy them separately but just had a look on Am@zon - who knew there was such a selection. I think they are supposed to be left open all the time, but have got to admit to closing our when its really cold or windy. I'm not sure what I think about next doors bin - I may have to start locking mine"Think of many things, do one"

HI Sandy - I'm using next door's bin with permission.
I'm in work tomorrow. I need to find my passport and take it with me. Although I think I scanned it recently so can hopefully just send that to the conveyancer tomorrow. I know where my driving licence and birth certificate are but of course that's not what they asked for...
I have to do a training course and pass an exam this week. I did a practice test tonight and scored exactly the same as the one I did most of the other day. I'm only 5% away from passing even without the refresher course so should be fine.
