Lovely mug!
I hope your day has been better x"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee4 -
Thanks Jwil. I've had a reasonable day today - made better by us getting DS insured as a named driver for £405 for the year which is amazing! It did mean we lost a few months of the previous policy but it is worth it for his help with DD. DH wasn't fit enough to drive today so I had to take DS to pick the car up. He's really happy to be insured again and have some freedom. We put it on a CC for now as while we have the money in the EF I didn't want to risk completely depleting it. Will just pay off in May/June when we get the bill.
In better news - DD got her apprenticeship which feels like a miracle. Starting salary for September £12.5K!!! Fabulous. It's not in the town we live in so she may need to move out... Oh no... LOL. She also needs to start learning to drive asap. I suggested to her that perhaps she gets a B&B or air B&B or rents a room part week initially while she settles and comes home at the weekend... Said we'd potentially help her out like we would have done if she'd gone to uni IF she needed it. So that lifted all our spirits today. She's now gone to the gym with a mate. Not bad getting the first apprenticeship she applied for - and it was full of tests and stress and ICT issues and she still made it through. Really proud of her.

Congratulations to your DD, that is good news! 👏👏
Sounds really sensible getting DS on the insurance, will help you all out a lot so we'll worth the cost.
Hope DH is okay and that you are taking care of yourself too.
Love the mug, great choice and very apt! X5 -

It's a real relief. Got DD on a waiting list for driving lessons but likely to be August / September. He said don't trust people with no waiting list which sounds fair enough. Will try a few others too though. Will get her to focus on doing her theory test for now so at least progressing and that won't hold her up. He's £30 an hour and recommended by a friend of DD's who also struggles with anxiety.
Bought some MnS meals yesterday so ate nice food yesterday and today. It definitely helped - and as you all said a lot cheaper than takeaways. Did treat DD to McD after the news though. My workload should start settling back to normal levels soon I hope which should help. I may even be able to take a little time off... It's DD's birthday next week - potentially taking the day off and taking her to an ice cream farm after school. Just need to let my boss know LOL. She'll be fine I'm sure.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
