HI SH, so sorry to hear about your friend - no words to describe this virus apart from awful!
Well done on the great lump sum you have paid to the card, amazing achievement.

Thanks HM. We all just have to get through.
Feeling a bit guilty after parent's evening (virtual) as DH and DD both feel I was too honest - even though I only fed back what DD had said about one particular teacher and the help she needed but didn't get... She's planning to apologise to him on my behalf and point out my ASD traits which I found really ironic. It didn't help that it was a five minutes slot and we lost 1.5 minutes to technical difficulties!! Apologies to all the poor misunderstood teachers out there doing their best.... At the same time - my role as a parent is to get the best for my child... When my kid has special needs and they're not met - who else is going to raise it? Apologies aren't a strength - can you tell? I may have highlighted we were paying £35 a fortnight to a tutor to make up for what she wasn't learning at school.... (my simplistic view is that shouldn't be necessary - at least I didn't say the last bit aloud... I doubt they missed the subtext though)
One of her teachers offered to sort out some 1:1 sessions to help her with CAD which she struggles with... That would be fab. He said they probably wouldn't know until mid Feb what the exam situation was likely to be. If DD was able to get her current predicted grades with no exams that would be the best outcome... Her MH really goes downhill when she's put under stress.
Between taking the dog for a walk and the parents evening - I finished early. Will have to make up the time another day. DH went into work and has come home and gone to bed! His sugar is out of control. I think he needs to be on different tablets - as I think these ones have made his cravings worse but he won't address it...
We spent £30 cash on a takeaway the other day - but I realised that I had £50 in the eating out budget still - so I stripped £30 out and paid it off my target CC. We're currently on target to be CC free by June payday inclusive - but considering a stretch target of May which would fit with my birthday. Will see how we get on. I'm hoping lockdown makes it a little easier to reduce our spends. Coming back to the laptop saga - considering spending some money on a decent webcam so I can get over that problem at least. Probably £20-30. Waiting for DH payday Wednesday.

I think you did the right thing with the teacher and no apology is due. If anything, they should be apologising to you for failing your daughter. Such a British thing to do, to apologise when we don't mean it.What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Thanks Tahlullah. Always nice to have someone in your corner.
DD is buying on V'nt'd - so £23 including delivery - I think for 2 pairs of N1k3 trainers - theoretically unworn - still with boxes so sounds good. DH has to be back at the office tomorrow. Hope he stays safe

There should be no apology, how can the teacher know they are issues if they are not told.
If you can make do with a webcam, that will keep your costs down for now.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5 -
I thought that Safeguarding expectations were that you recognise when there is an issue and tackle it, not ignore it because you as a teachers are too busy with everyone else in the class. By not taking the time to find out what the problem is, you disadvantage the learner, so yes, I think an apology would be required for failing to do the job of ensuring the student is able to learn. OFSTED and Safeguarding are intertwined. Ofsted want to know what the teacher has in place to recognise issues that prevent learning and to put those actions into action, and that can't be done if the teacher doesn't take the time to find out what the problems are. They shouldn't be waiting to be told.

I think when you wake in the night you may as well use the time productively rather than endure the torture of trying to get back to sleep. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

I think teenagers are always embarrassed by any parental intervention - it goes with the teenager's job description 🙄
I remember a clinician saying to me that no-one knows their family member better than their family and it is actually our responsibility to speak out about concerns/needs/wants if that individual can't/won't do it for themselves. I think the same applies to your daughter's education.6 -
I agree with the others. If there was an issue that needed raising then you were right to raise it."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3
