Soup sounds fantastic!
DH will be so grateful when it's all cleared, rather than dragging it out. He should be thankful having an allowance to buy clothes and not make do.

Erratic sleep is tough. Waking up after a good night's sleep is sooo nice but fairly rare for me too.I thought of you today when a friend encouraged me to make "micro moments of self care". Basically, however busy you are take 60 seconds to enjoy putting on some hand cream, or brush your hair and put on some lip balm, or make a fancy tea or coffee to enjoy etc etc. I tried it a couple of times a day and enjoyed it.5

Thanks Lucielle, MF and Blackcats. Hope you sleep well too! I do some micro moments of self-care. I have a fave night jasmine body butter and used it on my hands during a stressful meeting earlier. It definitely does help. Tonight I've watched a couple of secret millionaire episodes. Reminds me how lucky we are...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I am still struggling with getting the grocery budget down. Part of it is DS - as I've asked him to reduce how much he goes to the shops for food - but need to agree a way forward. I've used up almost all my slack - and yet I still want to add more in!! Need to get better the rest of the pay month. I weighed myself today and am the worst I've ever been so need to take action. I have given DD some of my snacks - and asked her to dole them out at the rate of 2 a day... Will see how that goes.
I am trying to increase my spending on fruit - and reduce junk food. Still have a long way to go!! I have also bought some ingredients to make soup. It's nice seeing snow outside - gives a change of scenery denied us otherwise... DD was up early and took the dog for a walk while it was snowing. She's been losing weight this last year while we seem to be doing the opposite.
Hope you are all having a good day.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi SH - I do think food has gone up a lot recently both covertly and overtly so I think we are all struggling with that. To some extent we are just paying what it takes to meet the needs of our diet which has a lot of protein and fresh veg (not too much fruit as that is quite sugary)
Good idea to give DD the key to the cupboard, especially if you tell her to make it difficult for you
I love snow, except when I have to drive in it, which means this year - bring it on! sadly we don't seem to get a lot here
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Snow is so wonderous and beautiful. I really do miss it. Enjoy it's beauty while you can. Some of us are not so lucky. What I do not give, you must never take by force.

I knowing snacking is so easy to do and a quick pop to the shops results in extra items, why is ds going to the shops when you have food in? Can he pay for things himself?
Enjoy the snow, we've just got slush here!

If DS is having treats or different things to the family meals, he should be paying for them himself. His keep pays for a roof of his head, use of facilities and set food items. I'm sorry if it sounds harsh, but needs must at times.
Hopefully DD will be strong and not give in to begging, pleading and bargaining 😁Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5 -
Thanks Mark, Tahlullah, HM and MF
DS isn't currently paying keep but was buying his own food. I gave him a two week break over xmas - saying that he should treat it as if he'd come home for the holidays. He then did start buying his own food again but I had a go at him for going out to often and putting us at risk. He was supposed to add his items to ours and pay for them - it's that last bit that hasn't happened. It wouldn't matter if we hadn't set such a high target for debt repayment... Food has gone up in price, I agree. DD will dole my stuff out to me - she can be a hard taskmaster...
The snow has stopped again. It's not stayed on the road - it was too wet already but has added some covering the the pre-existing snow on the garden. I've written another 1000 words of my book - and I like them which is reassuring. There are times in the first draft when you just write stuff and hope you can make it more exciting later... Today was one of the better days. I still want to write more if I can as I hadn't written anything since Monday until today. I have another 3,500 words to write this weekend if I am to meet my target.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
