Look at the moving money from savings as borrowing it from yourself, repay your 'loan' when CB comes in, don't treat it as extra money to spend.

Sorry about your friend. 50 is no age and this virus is dreadful.

Thanks Blackcats, Jwil and Tahlullah
I think I've got over some of the initial shock. I even checked the FB news on another webiste as my brain so struggled to believe it. Sadly it was true but she'd been given a fabulous obituary. I would be proud if I had a similar one. Such a shame.
Considering selling the laptop I bought in November and buying DD's off her instead. We could then be £150 better off - and I would have more features - like light up keys, touchscreen and better sound quality. I didn't think it mattered too much until I tried to live with this one... I hate it!! Alternatively I could try and sell this one and upgrade directly. She still wants to sell hers - so that would give me some money to put towards another one for me (as she repays 1pad debt). I'm going to consider for a bit. DD is very keen to reduce her debt bless her...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I know what you mean about the laptop SH, I felt the same way about my mobile phone. I have swapped 3 times and am now settled on a Samsung. Life is too short to live with poor equipment. What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Thanks MF and @enthusiasticsaver - must have cross-posted. 50 is no age at all (especially now I'm there).
MF - yes it is just a temp borrow - I move £ into savings at the start of the month so it is less tempting and then drip feed it back over the month. Tahlullah - glad you got sorted on your phone eventually. The laptop is fine for some things - I just had a much better one before so I know what I'm missing... False economy. Live and learn. Next time I buy large appliances - I want to check the DB rating on them all now I've realised how much noise sensitivity affects my mood and concentration. Had to put headphones on just now to cope with drier noise!
Today seems to be laundry day. Catching up slowly. DD took pooch out for a walk earlier. We also had Chinese takeaway for tea - yummy. Treat from the cash we got at Xmas... Need to do some focused writing tonight - if I'm to hit my daily or weekly word count goals...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

DH and DD washed our pooch yesterday as she's been getting covered in mud. She now smells nice again. DH and I gave her a shave last night... need to finish shaving her later - but only so much you can do before she's had enough. She feels gorgeously soft again now though - like she did as a puppy - and very glossy.
DD is cooking lasagne and chips for us - but I am on strict instructions to make garlic chicken later - preferably with roasties. I pampered myself earlier - using some Indian night jasmine body lotion. It smells divine. DH went to church and played as part of a band - and gave my car a run. I didn't write any more of my book yesterday but today is another opportunity. I did do some plotting though - to check I'm on course for my desired ending. Still working out how best to market my book - I think finishing my website is probably the most logical way to go. At the end of the month - I can set up some free promotions on my book. One author said - he can tell how much his book sales are dictated by how many books he gave away free 3 months earlier. There's so much to learn...
Br3x1t seems to be messing up supplies. Am**** is struggling to get my hair dye or TP as part of my subscription programme... Frustrating. I know things will settle but right now it's an extra complication. In better news, my parents vaccinations both went ahead and they got the Pz one which is great. Very relieved about that. Really looking forward to getting ours. I know they aren't fool proof but the whole situation is very anxiety provoking and I'm hoping things will start getting back to normal as the vaccine rolls out more widely.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I managed to get to sleep closer to midnight last night rather than 3am or later so was awake for around 7.30am. Was pleased with that. DH has gone into work today - hope he stays safe. It's my nephew's birthday today. Sent him present via Am****. We'd normally have a wider family gathering. Sad.
Online shopping from Mr As twice a week is doing wonders for curbing my grocery spend. For the first time - probably since this time last year - I am within my revised budget for groceries. I still want to edge it down but compared to December's spend we are doing amazingly well. A delivery is due at lunchtime.
I had a go at short story writing last night in the hope of entering a competition. It ended up as a good character profile rather than a story. Hopefully I will use it one day. Using other people's writing prompts is still a good launch point - to keep me writing. Stuck at about 20K words for Book 2 at the moment. I know what I want to happen next - but can't quite write it... It'll come.
A piece of glass went through DD's trainers yesterday and now she's nagging for new shoes. She spent her December clothing allowance on her 1pad - so will need to put the £ she was due to get in March towards it instead. I think she was hoping for extra £ but I said no. In the past she's got good deals on V1nt3d so hoping she tries that. We'd normally go to a clearance store and buy N1k3 for around £6-12 per pair but that's out at the moment. DD took pooch for a walk this morning which is positive. Hopefully our dog will be calmer all day. I want to persist with taking her for a walk in the afternoons - so will probably go after Mr A has been.
DH gets paid Wednesday. Then planning further inroads into debt. Excited to see the numbers fall.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Good to hear your sleep is improving, and your budget
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine4 -
Everything is moving in the right direction with writing. Keep doing word of mouth, updating profiles and spreading the word. Don't pressurise yourself writing the next one or short stories, unless you want a break from your second book.
Can DD glue the trainer as a temporary repair.
You're doing so well clearing the debt and altering budgets. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter 😊Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5
