Be kind to yourself. You weren't expecting to have time off today so don't fill it with tidying the lounge and other chores. Use some time to look after yourself. Have a bath/shower, apply some lotions and potions and your favourite perfume. Sit down with a hot cuppa, or something stronger if you prefer. Take time for yourself.8

savingholmes said:Thanks and welcome FourSeasons. Thanks MF and DIA. Really glad I took the day off. Grief still coming in waves. Looking forward to my chat later with a friend. Reminder I still have friends. DD is making us chips and chicken kiev for dinner. Kitchen is still clean after several days. Miracles exist... My parents are being vaccinated this weekend - grateful for that. Trying to find ways of focusing on the good. When I couldn't sleep last night - at one point I got up and wrote about 700 words of my novel. Hoping to do a bit more writing on and off today. Might even tidy lounge...

Thanks everyone. I had a good day considering. I edited a couple of chapters of book 2. I spent 2 hours on a video call with a friend I'd been messaging but not spoken to for about a year so that was lovely. I took pooch out for a very brief walk - and DD took her out for a follow up walk too. I ate leftover chilli for tea that DD had cooked yesterday so felt blessed by that. Planning a Chinese takeaway tomorrow. Still getting positive feedback on my book - I've had four 5 star reviews so far - but a further one is trapped on Amazon somewhere and not yet public - so I should soon have five! Thanks to everyone on MSE that has been buying my book, reading and reviewing.
I got myself in a muddle with my zero-based budgeting this morning - as I couldn't work out why my bank balance and budget didn't match. I finally realised I'd put CB in as coming in today - and that's not the right date!!! Oops. Had to transfer some £ back from savings - but all worked out in the end. Of course today was the day my earphones fell apart and I had to order new ones £23 - to be fair I reckon they must have got trapped under something as they were semi-ripped apart. DD insisted I buy the dog some shampoo and conditioner - another £9.99 - our previous bottles have got lost somewhere and she is getting very muddy at the moment. DH has been giving the dog a trim - and she now has a couple of matching bald spots above her eyes... Then DD strongly asked for some books - tried to buy them but they don't seem to have gone through - so potentially will try again tomorrow. That's another £20 - but she plans to borrow some of it from me but will repay honest... DH wanted his spends early - he only gets paid next Wednesday.... A bit EEK but all sorted now.
Grateful we are still on full pay and have jobs. Hugs to those struggling at the moment.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Sorry to hear about your friend - so young. This is a terrible virus - 2,000,000 deaths worldwide with all the associated grieving families. However, the vaccine gives us hope and regardless of how parts of the rest of the pandemic has been handled, the vaccine programme is a credit to scientists and those running the programme. My elderly relative got their letter, booked and jabbed within 3 days, less than 3 miles from their home. They felt a bit unwell for a day but the relief for them (and me) is palpable. You are right that we should enjoy life each and every day. I need to remind myself of that after a work day of back to back screen meetings 🙄You are doing so well with your debt busting - imagine when all your money can go towards things you want it for.4

Hi Blackcats - yes it will be lovely to be CC debt free - then we are sorting our EF and freedom fund! I'd bought a new diary the day I found out about my friend. It came today. The front reads - 'Make every day count.' That's all we can do in life - is make sure there's life in our days and that we aren't wishing them away. I'm planning to use it for all things book / writing related to remind me of my successes in the early days, set writing targets and encourage myself to keep going on the down days.

Glad the books doing well and that you're still taking and sharing positives from each day.
The importance of a supportive home can't be underestimated.
Take care, G.If it's not adding up, compound it!3 -
I'm so sorry about your friend, this virus is awful. Glad you had a day off, and well done on the debt repayments. Good news that your parents will be having their jabs too."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
