Thanks MF. In other good news £co has paid out another £26 from my home insurance earlier in the year - despite me going with the same provider - woohoo! I've withdrawn it to Am**** given how much we spend there - but will aim to knock it off personal spends.
DH has got his pension update - and he and his company invested £4862 between them this last year upto July 20- and that pension is doing okay - only gained about £50 ish on top of that - but none lost. His other two smaller pensions which were worth around £32K appear to have gone up £1K. His pensions now stand at £113K - up around £6K compared to last year. At least it's an improving rather than declining picture. Just have to hope it holds steady and continues to climb. He got a big payrise last year which appears to be showing through so that's encouraging. We are still heading in the right direction.
My sipp equivalent (a lost pension I found last year) is up from £2.8K to £2.9K. Not bad in the current economic climate. My work pension annual value should have gone up about £0.8K this year (career average) which means that pension at 67 should now be worth £8.1Kp.a if the gov don't move gateposts again. If I was to try and create that same pension growth for myself I would need to have invested around £21K (assuming a 4% take out rate). It certainly makes me feel better about what I earn! If only I could get DH on a similar pension scheme!! I have to keep remembering this when I get frustrated/bored.....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi SH,
Glad you had a nice break and DD has a job. Shame about the house but maybe means you have a bit more clarity on what you are looking perhaps.
You seem to know lots about pensions, something I still need to grt my head around.

Everything is still moving in the right direction, between you the numbers are good and provide the wiggle room you want in a few years 🤗Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3

Glad you had a nice break, must be lovely to do something semi-normal. We're going camping the first weekend of September when the holiday makers have gone, only an hour away but to our favourite lake.
Hope you're all good, H x

Thanks MF - yes the pension was encouraging given all the news scare stories. HM - it was lovely to be without the kids LOL. The scenery was stunning. DD is enjoying her job so far helped by working with friends. She has another shift tonight.
Today I've updated our £. Bank account looking sad - but not surprising given recent skip, weekend away, kitchen and motor spends. DH has road tax this month of about £240 - very sad. I've assumed we are getting no board from DS but who knows. Getting some weed control fabric for the garden to go under where we put the outdoor sofa. Plan to rake off the bark, mow the weeds / grass. Lay the fabric and put the bark back and top it up. Will buy 1 of a 2m by 5m roll for now as can get another easily enough from Am****. Will use voucher when it comes tomorrow and then it should be delivered Thursday.
I'm currently investigating an 1k3@ laundry wall shelving / basket system. I've just chased my £20 gift voucher. I am also contemplating putting something similar in our bedroom wardrobes as I think our current laminate shelf and rack thing is very poor use of space. I am in danger of escalating our costs though so I think I ought to wait until later in the year / early net year for that. Some of these systems would last also be much better for our hall coat cupboard than what we currently have. I need to stop trying to do everything at once. I'm writing that as a message to myself. STOP.
DH needs to order some missing screws from when he and DS took the cabinet doors and off. I need to check if I have any gloss rollers anywhere if not need to get some. Still debating whether to buy new sinks and taps for utility and kitchen (September pay at this rate). They do look battered! May struggle to get one for 500mm cabinet though

I know you have your A voucher, but the auction site is a lot cheaper for weed membrane and the rolls are a lot bigger too. Have a look before committing.
Set yourself one thing a payday, even if you count DH's as another and DS' keep as a 3rd 😉 gives plenty of planning and lead time before committing to it. I know you want to do it all now, however pacing yourself will make you feel more at ease, financially.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
