Welcome back DIA. Thanks MF, Welsh Kitty and HSL. I will bear your advice in mind MF.
My Am**** voucher has come which is always exciting. Yesterday I mainly rested. I put out some charity stuff - two bags and a box - which has now been collected which is great. Incentivises me to declutter some more. Today I want to touch up the paint on the kitchen cabinets. Then DD and I will tackle painting the tiles. It feels a bit neverending at this point. At least painting the tiles white is simple and we don't have to worry about the counter because it's going. I looked at replacement sinks but I couldn't find any narrow enough to give us a 1.5 bowl and fit our cupboard - so have ordered Ast0n1sh to help with cleaning. More MSE anyway. I may replace the taps though if I can't get acrylic paint and other stuff off them!!! (Wonder how that got there LOL). I'll have to be a lot more careful once the kitchen is finished.
DD is desperate to earn £ and is hoping for more shifts and more work from me which is positive. It seems to be going really well so far. DS is bidding for other work and sticking with his goals. I need to pull up the rest of my potatoes too and plant some spinach and leeks and other things on. It rained occasionally yesterday which stopped me doing it then. Still eating the potatoes we pulled a couple of weeks back. Have a good day allAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

It will all be worth it when finished SH, by then you will have planned every other room and want to get stuck in again 😉
Have you or DD any nail varnish remover? If so, gently and carefully skim it over the taps to remove the paint. Acetone free will take a while and several passes, the 'normal' one will have it off in no time, or whatever you use when cleaning up after doing art. Just give it a good soapy wash after!
What width and length sink do you need? I can ask my sibling.
I am so pleased DD is settling in and DS will secure other work soon. You've two very determined kids!Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Thanks MF.
Well I've successfully painted the tiles. Really pleased with it. Looks so much cleaner and brighter white rather than cream. I also repainted the inside of 3 cupboard doors. My arm and hand has been aching all night though. We had a takeaway for tea. Need to carry on touching up paint / repainting tomorrow. The new work tops arrive tomorrow afternoon - but I still need to organise some workmen so they will have to go in the garage for now. Just have to hope the tiles stay intact when we take out the old counters but if they don't hopefully it will be simple enough to resolve. The current tiles are relatively plain small squares. DH says he did tiling in his 20s as I was less fussy - now he knows he won't meet my standards so doesn't try. Oops! Given we are doing up the place partly for us and partly to sell - shoddy workmanship would be a turn off for future buyers. I just wish it was easier to find skilled tradesman to do the job. I'm planning to wait for my 1k3@ delivery before booking someone in -but that will probably mean we have to live with it for longer. I don't want to get someone to chop into our new counters though until we are absolutely certain we have all our expected deliveries ad we are are not changing anything further (eg sinks or even electrics)

Gosh you’ve achieved so much SH you must be so thrilled. And the house and garden will be so much nicer to live in until you do sell. Much better to wait on the working surface until all your decisions are made. I still need to go to a local shop and get some Paint to Upcycle a chest of drawers. In fact, that may go on today’s to do list!4

You've done really well in a short space of time too.
I know what you mean about finding trades to do the work. I used to get my sibling to do everything in my ex's house. I'm dreading trying to find people up here.
Hope you're feeling a little better this morning.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Good luck with the chest PF.
MF - could you invite a sibling to stay and do the work while there?
It's nice and sunny at the moment so considering taking the dog for a walk before painting. DH has fitted the last drawer back in and put some more cabinet doors on. Nearly there.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I half jokingly suggested it. Said come up for 2 weeks, do the work for the first week and holiday further up the 2nd week. Sibling told me how much he earns and there's no way I could cover that, mates rates for the work and buying the materials.
Final push for your kitchen 🤗Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Thanks MF and Tahlullah.
Well after rubbish service from B3ns0ns with still no word 2 weeks after they failed to deliver - I have given up on them. I am cancelling the £453 I spent with them. I will ring my CC tomorrow and do a charge back. I went to 1k3@ today and bought DS a new bed. It cost around £300. It probably isn't as good as what I was going to buy but perhaps doesn't need to be as DS will move on at some point. He's already warned me that he is unlikely to be able to pay board this month. I did point out to him that he had had thousands come through his hand and should have kept some in reserve. (I wasn't actually surprised though). I also said if the situation continued he would need to try and sign on.
I bought some tab top type curtains while I was there too for £19 - bought 2 sets - one for our bedroom and one for DH's downstairs study which doesn't currently have any. I didn't buy the storage thing I want for the kitchen because it was heaving and I just wanted out.
