I don't blame you for doing a chargeback. I'm sure the 1k3a bed will be fine.
Curtains sound like a good price and instantly change a room.
Hopefully DS will come up with something soon and this should be a steep learning curve.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
I've also booked in a plumber to take out the gas hob next week. £50 so pleased with that. Still need to find a joiner and electricianAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

How frustrating about the bed. Glad you got an alternative."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Thanks Jwil. Well I harvested a few more kilos of potatoes today, plus some broccoli, tomatoes and pea pods. Not looking forward to work tomorrow but it pays the bills. DD has kept her job and has 5 shifts on the run next week so she is pleased and feeling valued. She is coping better than I would have expected which is a relief. DS is putting in bids for work but no takers yet. Glad we have a bank holiday still to look forward to.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

To be fair, I was the same when I was younger. Would never have thought about keeping money back for 'just in case'.What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Hi MF and Tahlullah
DS is trying really hard to get more work. My frustration is with how ungracious he was at the start of the month over paying board - despite it being obvious to both of us - that he was unlikely to be able to pay board at the end of this month. He's also earned a fortune during lockdown... He says he has kept some money to one side but needs it for his medical bills and to pay his debts. Our food bill is back under control now - helped by being able to see what's in my tin cupboard at a glance - so not over-buying. We were over-filling the fridge and freezers - and that's currently under control so an improvement. However, that's been while he's been buying his own food. Less sure what will happen to our food bill if he no longer does that.
I ordered the new oven hood today - via £c0 and had a 15% off discount code too - so what I expected to be £130 was just shy of £110. I bought it somewhere with easier returns. DH can fit it when it comes as there is a plug socket specifically for that already (assuming the hood itself fits in the canopy). I bought some stretchy chair covers out of my personal spends for this month - having got paint on a couple of our leather effect kitchen chairs!! I have a number to ring to sort an electrician for the oven move and some other bits and bobs - but my priority if now to find a joiner/carpenter to fit the counters and sort the holes of the sinks and hob.
The original oven hood supplier has agreed to refund and have said it's on its way. Just provided a tracking number to the pull out drawers one so hopefully that will come back this week too. The bed company said I had to email a different department - and their auto responder said it could take them 5 days to read it!! All in all due refunds of c£633.
DD is now going to dye my hair before my parents come around this evening so ta ta for now - and have a good week

Great news on dd job and I hope ds is successful soon.
You're doing so much which probably looks and feels amazing but don't leave yourself short, dh mentioned that our site for the shed will take lots of work so I said we'll do a bit at a time there's no rush and we'll get there!
Hope you're having a break, H x

Thanks HM. My parents visit last night went well. Even though the kitchen isn't finished yet they were impressed with the changes and the colour scheme. They said my tiles looked like new rather than just painted.
Off to work in a few minutes to meet my boss. My first in office face to face meeting for months. Feels weird.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
