Glad the visit went well. Hope work is ok today x"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Thanks JWIL. I had to get up early for me - and was in quite a while but the meeting went well - and I spoke to 4 or 5 colleagues - a couple of whom I hadn't seen for months. I bought myself steak and chips from a van on the way home - delish! The cleaner returns tomorrow - feel like putting up a welcome banner LOLAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks MF and Tahlullah. Very excited that she's coming. It's the floors that have suffered the most without her. It's felt a big enough job just keeping on top of things like the dishwasher!
I've redone my budget assuming DS stops paying board and gets no extra income. I am still on track to get down to 2 debts by Christmas, 1 debt by Feb and hopefully all gone by March. Not going to hit the desired Christmas pay off and savings goals - however they were based on £ from DS so can't feel guilty/worry over that. We'll manage. DS is talking about moving to a city once he gets steady income again.

Well bless my cleaner she made an amazing difference. She stayed 5.5 hours in the end and has offered to ring me if she gets a free slot! She was very nervous about coming back - especially as so many people are home working still but I sent DH and DS out so it was only me and DD. She didn't do DS or DD's rooms or the lounge but still did loads. Our dog was made up to see her but she didn't walk her today - just focused on cleaning. She's not due back for a fortnight - but at least she did 2 extra hours today.
Still waiting for my refunds. I have the plumber coming tomorrow to take out the gas hob - and then my 1k3a stuff coming Friday and oven hood Sunday. Still need to sort a joiner and an electrician. DH still hasn't finalised the shed. I've had a very productive work week so far which is good. Had work I was enjoying today in particular which always helps. Glad we get a bank holiday Monday. Really hoping my refunds get sorted soon.
DD wants me to amend her CV so she can apply for a supermarket job so her confidence must be growing. She would earn twice as much doing that compared with her washing up job. My brother gave DS a couple of hours work at £10 per hour - boring but better than nothing. He's registered on a freelancer site and submitted some bids. He's about to run out of meds though - rescuing him would cost a few hundred pounds so I am not sure we should... but it's meds....??? Will sleep on it.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Your cleaner is a trooper!
DD is doing so well, I'm pleased at how well she is doing, progressing and wanting a bit more to do with herself. Turning into a butterfly to see and do more 🤗
Tough decision to make with DS, if you do help, do it as a loan.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Glad the cleaner had made such a big difference all things going well in the house.
I couldn't imagine having to pay for prescriptions now, lucky to live in Wales and get them free. Definitely would look at a loan rather than pay if it would help ds.
Have a lovely day, H x

I offered DS a loan - and am glad - as he reckons it will cost him £400 this month! He's just changed to a different medication so they only give a 2 week supply (canny). Then he has to have another private appointment which costs and then a new prescription hopefully for 28 days - for which he has to pay. If that all works out - then I think he will need yet another appointment after that for them to sign off his meds and for him then to hopefully transfer to the NHS - if they agree to take the letter as proof!! Expensive. Derailing our plans never mind his!
The gas is now disconnected to the hob - It can just lift out when we are ready. I've contacted a friend who has been doing up their house - to see if he wants any work doing our counter install. Really hoping he says yes (and is good)!! I've had another good days work today. I think one of the things that has really helped this week - is that DH went into work for 3 days so there was less noise and distraction. I think the house being tidier has also lifted my mood. We get a food delivery tonight - so had porridge for now but may have pizza later. DD gets her first pay packet tomorrow - she is very excited.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
