Also £63 gone out to a CC today. Debt decreasing very slowly currently but it all helps. I am going to have to revise my goals again - but DS not paying board was always going to change the numbers.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks MF.
Well I think we are going to get the house ready for sale and see what happens. We hope to move to the country - get an interest only mortgage for now - and commute when needed. I've found a few places. My current fave is a hour away 1 acre, 3 bedrooms, lots of downstairs receptions. But it has a range of outbuildings ripe for conversion. If we did it interest only - it looks like we would pay about £330pcm if fix for 2 years or £380pcm if we fix for 5. That way we can finish paying off CCs and then chip away at the mortgage or use some of our equity to clear them and start fresh. With the current economy though I would probably rather keep some as an EF.
We could potential stay in a B&B of some description or at a friends for the weeks DD is at 6th form - say 4 nights a week. DD has 1 really heavy week of lessons and 1 really light week. Because of covid restrictions she's more limited now on the hours she's allowed to stay at school. DH and I could perhaps take it in turns to stay with her. If I went for one of the premier types - they have kind check out policies - so it could be a place for DD to hang out if she finishes school early some days. I did a quote on one 2 miles from her school - and it would be £116 for 4 nights for a family room which would be cheaper than renting a place locally with the hassle and bills that come with that. Worst case we might need some kind of doggy daycare part week while she's at sixth form. It looks like my job could continue to be mostly home based moving forward. DH's is currently 2-3 days in the offfice - again there is a B&B near his work if needed that is £25 per night for him so doable. A friend has also offered to let us lodge at hers and I've seen her do that regularly and she genuinely seems to miss people when they leave.
So today I've done a bit more fence painting and pruning. It has the added blessing of burning off calories too. Definitely need to sort an electrician and the kitchen fitter. I've been given another name to try so just sent him a text. Painting the kitchen tiles has had an amazing effect - I am tempted to do it upstairs in our ensuite too as it really makes the whole place look brighter. Wary of adding more jobs to my list though. I may get a quote for painting the hall stairs and landing and the front room too. Want to get jobs finished.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Property sounds good, especially the outbuildings. They would really open up income opportunities.
How are the schools / colleges in the areas you are looking at. Would DD consider changing? or would it be possible to set DD up in a small flat / large bedsit with screens or units to create a separate bedroom?
You do have plenty of options to keep going in your roles and move, which is a major benefit.
Plan what you want changed in your home ready to sell it, but only tackle one room at a time, unless you can recruit help. Everything is definitely progressing and I'm so pleased for you.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Fantastic progress on the house. I found the hall and landings made a vast difference to my home when decorated. I was surprised. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Agree with DIA, we are just building up a list of things to DIY. just focusing on weight and debt at the moment, but trying to get on top of decluttering (which is free and good exercise)I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Thanks MF, DIA and Mark. Last night I gloss painted 4 door sides. In the night though my allergies were terrible so not done more today. DH has cut down the remains of a tree and the garden looks so much bigger and brighter. I may get dressed (LOL) and do a bit in the garden as our garden bin goes out tomorrow. I am wanting to empty the pond area and we are going to fill it with soil and hopefully plants we already have. I have a big Hebe (variegated leaves and purple flowers) at the front in a big pot that is about the depth of the pond so planning to decant it and plant it as is. I have some spare compost bags. I will then see what else I have in pots that I can plant out. I was thinking of digging up a plant from the side garden (strip next to path) but will see. I'd have to get DS to help with that and he isn't in a helpful mood currently.
I've been eyeing up some new art for the walls for when we are ready to style for selling and some new carpet for the stairs and landing. May post a piccie below. I have been using a 'visualiser tool' but the price is refusing to come up their system keeps crashing.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

do you think it is neutral enough for selling while still being practical and memorable?

It looks lovely, but, with a family and dog I'd be very wary of it showing up every single mark!
I had a similar one down for 9 months, most of which I spent scrubbing it, before giving in and replacing it with a darker colour. Mine was in the lounge though, so if your hall is blocked off it may be OK.
